Bethany Hightower was a noblewoman from House Hightower during the reign of King Aegon III Targaryen.[2]
Appearance and Character
According to Samantha Tarly, Bethany was a beautiful girl with smooth soft skin, lustrous hair, and the sweetest manner. However, Sam felt Bethany was also lazy and somewhat stupid.[2]
History
Bethany was the daughter of Lord Ormund Hightower and his first wife, who died in childbed at some point. She had three brothers, Lyonel, Martyn, and Garmund. During the Dance of the Dragons, her father married again to Samantha Tarly, but Ormund died in the First Battle of Tumbleton. Years later, Bethany's step-mother would become her good-sister when Sam married again to Ormund's heir, Lyonel.[3]
After the death of Queen Jaehaera Targaryen in 133 AC and the subsequent planned betrothal between King Aegon III Targaryen and Myrielle Peake, Lady Samantha wrote a bold letter proposing that Aegon marry both Bethany and Sam's sister, Sansara Tarly.[2]
