Green Lantern is a member of the Justice League as well as the Green Lantern Corps, an intergalactic peacekeeping organization, who uses his Green Lantern Ring to fight criminals and villains alike.

Incident Reports[]

Before Kill the Justice League Incident[]

John Stewart was a marine and an architect before being picked by a Green Lantern Ring sent by the Guardians of the Universe on the planet Oa, to be a part of the Green Lantern Corps. He served two tours on Thanagar before being chosen as the Green Lantern of sector 2814. At some point, John traveled to Gotham City and arrested Deadshot because he had killed several citizens during a fight with the other Deadshot.

John became a member of the Justice League alongside Superman, Wonder Woman, and the Flash

At some point, after Batman joined the league, John with rest of the Justice League had fought the Sinestro Corps and successfully defeated them. Unknown to John, Batman had recovered a yellow lantern from the fight for his contingency plan against Green Lanterns as John told Bruce what powers them.

At a certain point in Saratoga Heights, John apprehended the assassin Deadshot, believing that someone had to intervene. While Deadshot requested to confirm whether he had been able to kill the sniper who had been shooting at him, John remained unmoved, remarking that Lawton would have plenty of time to wonder about it while being locked away for the rest of his life.

When Brainiac arrived to Earth, Green Lantern (alongside the rest of the Justice League) traveled to his Skull Ship to figure out what his intentions were. The League were skeptical but kept an open mind thanks to Superman's insistence. However, this turned out to be a trap, which ended up in Green Lantern and the rest of the League (save for Wonder Woman and The Flash) being captured and cloned by Brainiac after his mind control attempts failed.

Kill the Justice League Incident[]

A clone of Green Lantern encounters the Suicide Squad, who had infiltrated Metropolis with the goal of killing Brainiac and the supposedly mind-controlled Justice League. As the cloned Green Lantern gets ready to integrate the Squad, Flash comes in to attempt at stopping Green Lantern but fails and nearly dies in his fight with John. Hours later the US airforce tries launching a bombing campaign on Brainiac's skull ship despite Wallers warning that Green Lantern had total air superiority and the cloned Green Lantern destroys the jets right as the missiles were heading to the skull ship. After The cloned Flash's death, the cloned Green Lantern appears and tells the Squad on how Barry was his closest friend in the league and is very angry about his death and immediately tries killing the Squad but the team disappears into Earth 2. In the final fight with Green Lantern, John was defeated by the Squad thanks to the help of the Yellow Lantern Technology and moments later as John is bleeding out he is shot in the head by Deadshot, killing him.

Not long after the team had successfully recovered a supposedly resurrected Flash, the Suicide Squad would learn from Deadshot's daughter Zoe Lawton, who was also the vigilante known as Lawless, that Green Lantern has also been supposedly brought back to life and she needed their help in rescuing him from an Elseworld where the City of Fear incident was never stopped, with parts of the Gotham City from this Elseworld appearing on Earth-1. With the Suicide Squad's aid Lawless manages to get Green Lantern off of the Skull Ship, however, due to King Shark taking his Lantern Ring for a moment following his death, the team found Green Lantern, still visually affected by Brainiac's previous control over him, hanging onto the edge of the Fear Elseworld asking for some help up now that they were apparently working together. While the team would waste time playing rock, paper, scissors to decide who would help pull Green Lantern up, while literally leaving him hanging, he would soon fall into a portal leading back to Earth-1, and like the Flash he would be placed into his display case in the Hall of Justice to recover, with the aid of Mrs. Freeze's cryogenic tech helping to further aid in the healing process.

Sometime Later, Lawless would visit Green Lantern while the latter recovered. He thanked Lawless for helping him escape, before Lawless asked him if he was brought up to speed on his supposedly brainwashed actions. He admitted that he knew the basics of what happened, and that once he finished recovering he had a lot of work to do to regain humanity’s trust. Lawless agreed, stating that it will be difficult for humanity to forget what Green Lantern supposedly did under Brainiac’s thrall, before advising him not to use the “One Bad Day” defense, much to John’s confusion, though he immediately realized that Zoe was referring to the prospect of stating that his actions were not his fault and that he was a victim of circumstance, though he did believe himself to have been under Brainiac’s control. Lawless then theorized that Brainiac had amplified the personality traits in John’s mind that he could best exploit. John found this idea uncomfortable, though he did admit that this would explain who he believed to be Superman’s behavior, based on the footage he had seen. Lawless then stated that Superman had “golden retriever energy”, before assuming that she had to explain that.

Later, she found out Green Lantern planned to atone for his supposed actions. She voiced her opinion on his apology. She liked the truth portion of it, but stated that it could use some preparation, advising him to start slower, much to Green Lantern’s confusion. Lawless stated that he should not simply lay out his complete plan on what he would do to repair the damage he supposedly caused, to which he stated that he feels that this would prove how he had reflected on the situation, only for Lawless to point out that it makes him sound like Lex Luthor until he actually follows through on his plan, or more of a “space cop”. At this, Green Lantern corrected Zoe, stating that the Green Lantern Corps were not policemen, before expressing surprise that kids actually believe them to be policemen from space. Zoe pointed out that he stated this in verbatim in his Justice Day hologram, before stating that he needs to connect with people to get to know them and their needs.

Later, Lawless found out that Green Lantern wanted to defuse hostilities between him and Deadshot. When Zoe asked him about it, he stated that he felt it was the right thing to do, only for Lawless to politely criticize this, comparing it to an incident where she heard someone plan a fake bank heist with a Bollywood style dance sequence for a prom proposal, to which Green Lantern brushed this off, before stating that he believes that Deadshot can be reasonable. Lawless then stated that Deadshot has hated him since before the invasion and that he was the reason that Deadshot was in Arkham Asylum in the first place. Green Lantern then pointed out that Deadshot was terrorizing Gotham in the process of fighting his double, and that the reason he intervened was because someone had to stop them, while in the process indirectly stating that he realizes now that the Deadshot that Floyd Lawton killed truly was a double. Lawless corrected him by pointing out that the Deadshot that Floyd had killed was an alternate universe double. Green Lantern brushed this off, before reminding Zoe of the rule of law. Zoe pointed out that he was acting like a “space cop” again. Green Lantern then confidently stated that if he can sort things out with Deadshot, he is doing well in redeeming himself. Zoe seemingly gave in at this point, stating that it would be a good project for them.

Later, King Shark inquired about the power rings the Green Lantern Corps used, to which John assumed that King Shark wanted to know about the essentials of the power ring itself, to which King Shark clarified that he had already experienced those when he briefly wore his power ring, much to Green Lantern’s disappointment. King Shark stated that he was referring to what it means to be a Green Lantern. At this, John told Nanaue that being a Green Lantern was a solemn duty, even if some lanterns do not act this way; the Green Lanterns are meant to protect, safeguard, and do right by the people. At this, King Shark stated that this aligns with what Lawless told King Shark of the public perception of the Green Lantern Corps as “space cops”, to which Green Lantern mused “That girl works far too fast”.

Later, Green Lantern spoke with King Shark after having reflected upon what they discussed about what it meant to be a Green Lantern. King Shark excitedly told him to go on and cited the Green Lantern oath, stating that it was sometimes individualized. Green Lantern stated that he went with the standard oath, as it spoke to him, before confiding that he had not lived up to his oath lately. King Shark agreed with this point, believing that Brainiac’s actions resulted in Green Lantern supposedly breaking his oath. Green Lantern felt insecure at that point, stating that he was meant to be the best example of Willpower on Earth, musing that it would be a while before he is worthy of his ring again. King Shark stated that it was a long road to redemption, before asking if he could wear the ring again. Green Lantern then nervously stated that they would see how things go.

During the climax of Brainiac’s invasion, Green Lantern, alongside the Flash, was deployed by Amanda Waller to aid the Suicide Squad in fighting Brainiac. Green Lantern would use his constructs to protect the Squad from harm during the fight against Brainiac’s final three bodies. When the final Brainiac attempted to escape, only to be thwarted by Batman and Superman, Green Lantern alongside his fellow league members would atone for what they believed that they had done by undoing Brainiac’s damage.

Deadshot[]

Look, I barely even know the guy past reputation. Architect and Marine, probably was an honor student, wholesome all-American white picket fence type stuff. Kind of guy that makes you think “Oh, one of the good ones”. That’s before gettin’ some alien jewelry and becoming a space cop. Shouldn’t he have been on, like, Mars or something? Some distant planet? Not in Gotham interrupting MY business?

Man, I don’t know what you want me to say here. I guess he’s a good role model for the kids? If you want your kids to grow up being know-it-all narcs.

From the Files of Lex Luthor[]

I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised that the same Earth entrusting its safety to a team of five living weapons would also accept an unseen, unknown and unvetted cabal from beyond our space be allowed to impose their intergalactic law, unquestioned and unregulated.

Green Lantern seems noble enough, a kind and civil man with a love for his own people, and his charges. Personally, I have no doubt that he behaves with respect for his code, and that under normal circumstances he would act with the best intentions, but gone are the days of good intentions, and now there is an unbridled, power-mad Super Cop wearing a ring that can wish anything - no matter how deadly — into existence. And all we can do now is try to take some lesson, and understand that the Green Lantern Corps has never served any interests but its own. At best, they will try to corral their rogue son and rein him in before Brainiac can use him to his fullest. At worst, we will see what it means when Oa’s jurisdiction fails, and martial law is imposed.

And what will they do when the Brainiac plague threatens the rest of the galaxy? When does it become easier for them to choose to destroy us all, to keep the other planets safe?

Th structures of justice, whether earthly or intergalactic, will always serve themselves first.

Green Lantern is no exception.
