- Not to be confused with Sonic Super Special Magazine
Sonic Super Specials were a group of 48-page comics that took place in the same continuity as the main Sonic the Hedgehog series. They were published quarterly from 1997 to 2001, running 15 issues. This series had its own variant of Sonic-Grams, called "Sonic-Grams Special." Most of the new stories published in the series were reprinted in Sonic Select and the Sonic Archives.

Background Information[]
- The first issue - Battle Royale - was originally printed as a standalone special like the eight special issues that came before it. After Brave New World continued its numbering as Sonic Super Special, later printings of Battle Royale had the supertitle changed from "Sonic vs. Knuckles" to "Sonic Super Special".
- Because of this post-publishing branding change, Battle Royale is the only Super Special to include a Sonic-Grams section without the "Sonic-Grams Special" title. It instead calls its Sonic-Grams "Battle Royale mail."
