Shattered World Crisis[]
Metal Sonic was sent to Apotos to investigate information about the Gaia Temples. He was threatening an old man when Dr. Eggman contacted him, sending him the coordinate of Casino Park. The old man said after the departure of Metal Sonic that he had to "break the tradition" and "warn the others." Sonic the Hedgehog and the other Knothole Freedom Fighters subsequently traveled here in search of him, only for Sonic to run afoul of Dr. Eggman and a patrol of Egg SWATs. Their battle was interrupted by the arrival of the Ifrit through a Genesis Portal, but Sonic was able to drive it back through with help from Silver the Hedgehog. (StH: #268, #272; FCBD: #9)
Sonic, Antoine D'Coolette, and Chip later encountered another force of Badniks here while looking into the Gaia Gates. Upon their arrival at the town temple, Gregorios greeted and escorted them to a secret door behind a tapestry; leading to the Gaia Gate. There he proceeded to give them a basic rundown of the hidden temples' connected inner-workings and the need of the Sun and Moon Keys in order to enter them. Fearing that the information would eventually leak, he presented them with a list of the locations which the various families possessing the keys resided.
Upon leaving the temple, night had already settled upon the town. The now-transformed Werehog and company noticed that the town was being invaded by a swarm of Dark Gaia's Minions, lead by a Dark Gaia Titan. With the aid of Amy Rose, Bunnie D'Coolette, and Knuckles the Echidna, the team was able to take down the colossus by tearing it open; revealing a shard of the Master Emerald. With the Titan defeated, the town was rid of the dark creatures, leaving the townsfolk in safe hands. (StH: #272)
