Kevon Winters

Kevon Winters is a anti-villain and serial killer that appears in Criminal Minds of season thirteen in episode Miasma, as the main antagonist of episode.  He was portrayed by Myles Bullock.

History[]

Biography[]

In the year 2008, Kevon's mother, Tanesa became ill after she was exposed to black mold while living in an apartment with poor hygiene that was never cleared of the vents which were caused by the Karina drilling floods. Later, Tanesa, along with other tenants lived on the state sued her owner Walter Trudeau for negligence and moral damages. However, most were ignored by him and the insurance companies. Sometime later, the estate was demolished and transformed into a coffee shop. His deceased mother inspired her son Kevon to become a physician, what his mother truly believed he could be when he reached adulthood. He lived in Houston, Texas until he soon developed misophobia and attended Patterson Community College. He owed millions of dollars in brides on January 10th, failing to see his mother suffer, he then decided to kill her by using ketamine as an act of mercy. Six days later, he found his mother's body in his house. The ME soon reported that his mother's death was the result of natural causes. One hour after he killed his mother, he soon decided to find other people who were in the same state as his mother and how an act of misery kills her to destroy the disease itself. During the three weeks before the events of the Miasma episode, he killed ten people and threw their bodies into a crypt to conceal the evidence.

Kevon appears for the first time with his Venetian mask carrying a chicken and beginning to cut hid last victim, Jeremy Paulson, while he drains his blood and puts in bucket below, later he hides the body in another crypt, more not a isolated as first, Kevon later observes Carl Kevork who is showing signs that he is ill at the point of a bus, Kevon stopped in front of Carl in his van. Carl soon gets up and says that he does not park there, however, Kevon gestures at the side tip, and while Carl opens, he is pulled inside. Kevon then applies ketamine in it and leaves. He tries to trap him in his garage and table, but Carl, having survived the poisoning, wakes up and attacks Kevon to save himself. The fight continues on the outside, after that, Carl manages to escape by stealing his van. The BAU soon deduces that Carl escaped from the unsub. Kevon goes out of control and reliving when the doctor diagnosed his mother and telling her what he would become a doctor to help her, plus he states in the mirror that the doctors have never done anything to help his mother.

While walking down the street, Kevon comes across a woman coughing with a stroller, he gets angry and walks into Dr. Emily Hicks's clinic and confronts her, accusing her of not helping the woman and letting her get contaminated. Hicks tries to calm him by saying that he has given the remedy, but Kevon continues with his verbal attacks and shouts that the doctors do not help and that they did not help his mother. She sees scissors in a table and tries to protect herself, but Kevon hits her. She stays in the room, screaming as he soaks her in the alcohol and sets her on fire and finally slays her with scissors on the back of the neck in Walter Trudeau's bar. Meanwhile, Rossi and JJ ask about the damage of their old estate and their achievements. They immediately witness Kevon spreading gas throughout the establishment while an official named Ramon confronted him and asks him what he is doing, but Kevon grabs him and holds a lighter in front of his face, ordering him to come out. JJ tries to calm Kevon down while Trudeau stays upstairs at his desk as Rossi walks past a backdoor into the fire escape, calling Garcia for information on Kevon's mother in the bar. JJ tries to tell him that her husband's father died of the Hurricane Katrina. However, Kevon soon says that it was not the Katrina Hurricane that caused this, and that she died because of Trudeau and the insurance company's doctors. She says that he should let Ramon go which causes Trudeau to descend down the staircase and say that Trudeau did not kill his mother. Then, a medical report says that she died in her sleep, but there is much more in the story. Rossi claims that Kevon gave a lethal dose of ketamine. Remorseful, Kevon cracks and confesses to the mercy killing, saying that he doesn't want his mother to suffer anymore, so Rossi seizes the opportunity to handcuff Kevon and he leaves.

Trivia[]

  • Kevon is very similar to Chad Mills, since both were serial killers of the house-cleaner type, and who were motivated to try end the disease and both had a similar modus operandis that included burning, chewing and poisoning their victims and beyond. Kevon's mother dies on Chad's birthday.
