Backstory and biography (original; remake down below)[]
Billy (last name unknown) was born to unnamed parents, and had a younger sister named agnes. It is implied he sexually abuse his sister and his parents abused him.
In the original not much is known about him, execpt that he's mentally insane and is obsessive about his sister Agnes (who may, or may not, be the killer along with him).
He is first seen sneaking into the attic of an unnamed sorority house and starts sending creepy and sexual phone calls to the sorority sisters downstairs which causes one of the sorority sisters, Clare Harrison to go upstairs to pack for Christmas break, but gets suffocated with bag by Billy.
Later when the sorority owner, Mrs. Mac goes into the attic to look for her cat, Billy impales her in the head with a hook and drages her into the attic, killing her offscreen.
He continues to call the sorority daily, which promptes Jess Bradford (the films main protagonist) to suspect her abusive boyfriend, Peter, is the killer while Billy continues to kill the remander of the soroity girls.
He tries to kill Barbara (another sorority girl) but gets scared away when Jess walkes in to her room to check on, but eventually gets stabbed to death with a glass unicorn by Billy after Jess leaves. He kills Phyllis Carlson (another sorority) after she discoveres Barb's corpse.
After he calls the sorority house again, the police are able to detect that the calls are coming from inside the house and tell Jess to get out of there, but she refuses and goes to check to see if her friends are still alive. After finding Barb and Phyllis' corpses she is chased into the basemant by Billy.
However, Billy returns to the attic, and indirectly pins his murderous deeds on Peter, who Jess believed to be the killer.
After the police leave he calls the sorority house again, as the screen fades to black. It is unknown if he killed Jess or not.
Backstory and biography (remake)[]
Much more about Billy is shown.
He was born in 1970 to Franklin "Frank" Lenz and Constance Lenz, who deeply despised one another. He was born with a rare liver desease which gave him jaundice, leaving his skin and eyes pure yellow. while Frank deeply loved their son, Constance despised and hated Billy because he reminded her of Frank.
When Billy was five, he witnessed Constance and her lover, Beareguard Rice, murder Frank and barry his body in the basement. They realise Billy saw them commit murder and chase him into the attic, and keep him locked up there. Billy never left and made the attic his "home".
When Billy was tweleve his mother raped him, since Beareguard was impotent, and nine monthes later his sister/daughter was born and Constance gave her the life Billy never had, claiming Agnes "was her family now."
Billy, now twenty-one, sneaks downstairs while Agnes is opening presents, and sends his mother a creepy phone call, causing her and Beareguard to check to see if Billy is still in the attic. When they go back downstairs they discover that Billy ate Anges' eyeball. Billy furiously kills Beareguard by stabbing him in the eye with a christmas decoration. he then beats a crying Constance to death and makes cookies out of her flesh and eats them as the police arrive. He is then sent to an insane asylum.
Billy, now thirty-five, escapes from his cell and returnes to his house, which has been turned into a sorority house. He reunites with his sister/daughter and try to kills the remain 2 sorority girls but fail and are left to burn to death when a christmas catches fire. However they survive and Agnes kills Leigh (older sister of another sorority girl) by snapping her neck. Kelli (the main protagonist) kills Anges by electrocuting her to death with a defiberlater. An enraged Billy tries to kill Kelli, but gets thrown off the stairwell and falls to his death on a christmas tree, which impales and kills him, ending his reign of terror.
