Benjamin Cyrus, born as Charles Mulgrew, was a sociopathic religious leader and also the main antagonist of the Minimal Loss episode of season four of Criminal Minds.
He is portrayed by Luke Perry.
History[]
Born as Charles Mulgrew, Benjamin and his mother lived in La Plata County, Colorado they attended a religious sect that Leo Kane was the leader of. Meanwhile, Benjamin usurped the Leo community by becoming the new leader of the Separatian Sect. Benjamin also declared himself the Messiah of sorts. Meanwhile, he was identified by the authorities as a predator of child sexual abuse in his cult. It is also revealed that Cyrus had Jessica Evanson as his wife since she was a teenager. And Cyrus was arrested for statutory rape but later obtained his freedom.
The episode starts with Reid and Prentiss escorting Cyrus and interview him about the ''child interview experts''. However after the scene, and when Cyrus literally finds out that he has an undercover FBI agent, Benjamin then decides to get everyone ion the sect to commit mass suicide, eventually he also negotiates with BAU. And when Cyrus was about to make suicide happen, BAU then attacks his cult, Cyrus attacks Prentiss and Reid, but is killed by Morgan.

- It is noteworthy that Cyrus was possibly inspired by the religious leader David Koresh, since both were high-profile Messiahs and were leaders in a rural area.
