Trivia[]
- As the title suggests, this episode is focused on Brain directing a parody of the 1971 TV film Brian's Song.
- One of the films Brain plays with his emotion suppressor is an obvious parody of Disney's The Lion King, using tigers instead of lions.
- The tigers return from "The Tiger Prince," which originally aired on Animaniacs.
- This episode features caricatures of various celebrities including Tom Hanks (who Brain refers to as "Forrest Grump"), Bruce Willis, Demi Moore, Gene Siskel, Roger Ebert, Whoopi Goldberg, Mike Tyson, Jaleel White (as Steve Urkel), Bea Arthur, Katie Couric and the Xenomorph from the Alien series.
- Pinky's "Win one for the Giffords!" line is a reference to television personality Kathie Lee Gifford, and football coach Knute Rockne's "Win just one for the Gipper" speech in honor of his former player George Gipp.
- The comedian mocking Brain's failed "The Overlord" broadcast is Steve Martin. Brain allides to his interpretation as a wild and crazy guy, a nod to Martin's 1978 album of the same name (and SNL routine).
- In the ending chorus, the last "Brain" had a long, slight vibrato, due to Brain's plan being foiled when the electric football tabletop used for the film’s set keeps electrocuting him.
