The Aquatope on White Sand (白い砂のアクアトープ , Shiroi Suna no Aquatope) is an anime television series produced by P.A. Works. The series is written by Yūko Kakihara, directed Toshiya Shinohara, and premiered on July 9, 2021.
Plot[]
After Fūka Miyazawa ends her idol career in Tokyo, she spontaneously decides to take a flight to Okinawa instead of returning home to expects to be a sad homecoming in Morioka. Depressed and aimless she wanders the coast of Okinawa until she stumbles upon the aging Gama Gama Aquarium that is on the verge of closing down.
The elderly director plans on shutting the aquarium down for good at the end of summer due to a lack of visitors and costly but necessary repairs. The director's high school granddaughter, Kukuru Misakino, takes over director's duties for the summer in a desperate effort to keep the beloved aquarium open using various tactics to increase income and traffic.
Enchanted while visiting the aquarium and no other direction, Fūka asks Kukuru for lodging and a job. Kukuru takes Fūka in and puts her to work on many schemes to revive the aquarium. Fūka's lack of knowledge and dwindling excuses for returning home haunt her efforts at the aquarium and the constant rumors of the aquarium's closing put mounting pressure on Kukuru.
