Faith (マーチ,Māchi?, March) is a koala from Animal Forest+, Animal Crossing, and Animal Forest e+, as a normalislander. Along with Huggy, Faith was one of the few koala villagers not to appear in any games subsequent to Animal Forest e+ until she was added in the 2.0 New Horizons update as an sisterlyvillager. Her catchphrase, aloha, is the Hawaiian way to say hello or goodbye, so it is likely a reference to her living on the island, as is her white flower necklace called a lei, which is on her Red Hula Top, and the yellow Hibiscus hairpin tucked behind her right ear.
Faith is an orange koala with a tan face and paws. She has dark reddish-brown hair in bangs, rectangular black eyes, white inner ear fur, a reddish-brown rectangular nose, and orange cheeks. She wears a yellow Hibiscus hairpin tucked behind her right ear. Her initial shirt is the Red Hula Top, like all female islanders.
Personality
Faith's personality changes from a normal islander in Animal Crossing to a sisterly villager in New Horizons.
In Animal Crossing
Below is a brief description of the normal personality. For more information, click here.
Faith has a normal personality, and frequently acts kind towards the player. Normal villagers generally get along well with lazy, peppy, smug, snooty, and other normal villagers. Faith may conflict with cranky and sisterly villagers. As a normal villager, Faith will usually wake up at 6:00 am and is easier to befriend than most. Both normal and peppy villagers reference an unseen friend known as Moppina.
In New Horizons
Below is a brief description of the sisterly personality. For more information, click here.
Faith is a sisterly villager. When befriended, she will give the player fighting tips and teach them ways to relax. Faith will also give the player medicine if they are stung by a wasp. Like all sisterly villagers, Faith is tough, but she will still care deeply about her appearance. Faith has a tendency to stay up very late at night. It is easy to get her picture since developing friendships with sisterly villagers is simple due to her caring and protective nature, sometimes talking to the player about her friendship with her old neighbor's son. Faith may get along with jock villagers who share her love of sports, lazy and normal villagers for how laid-back they are, and peppy villagers. However, she may conflict with smug and snooty villagers due to their arrogant nature. Faith may clash with cranky villagers due to their similarly stubborn personalities, but often end up becoming best friends.
In New Horizons, Faith's house is now a tropical resort, with a pair of beach chairs with parasol, a palm tree lamp in the left-hand corner, an outdoor kitchen in the right-hand corner, and two rattan end tables, one with a coconut drink, and the other having a cassette player with K.K. Slack-Key playing.
On Faith's island paradise, dreams take center stage. Faith is the star, and you are all just members of the supporting cast. Trees, flowers, waves, and everything else are all just part of the set.
Faith is the only formerly normal villager to ever receive a personality change.
As an islander, Faith loves one type of fruit and is allergic to another. She loves coconuts and is allergic to pears. Giving her the fruit she is allergic to will lower her chance of dropping money bags.
Her Japanese name and home request are likely a reference to a brand of koala-shaped snack cookies called Koala's March. This also ties in with her favorite song in Animal Crossing, K.K. March.
Her French name, "Kolette", is a portmanteau of "koala" and the name "Colette".
Her Italian name is "Calipso", which may refer to the Calypso musical genre, commonly associated with islands. It may also refer to the calypso genus of the orchid flower, as well as the Greek goddess who entertained Odysseus for seven years in Homer's Odyssey.
She shares a birthday with Elise, the snooty monkey, as they both have birthdays on March 21.
Coincidentally, their Chinese names both end in 琪.
