The Minion Pigs, also known as the Bad Piggies,[1] are characters that appear in the Angry Birds series. They are ordinary pigs of varying sizes that make up the bulk of the Piggy kingdom's workforce. Characterized by their creativity and nescience, the Minions are often seen building structures and vehicles of all kinds that nevertheless collapse very easily. In the Angry Birds games, the Minion Pigs are weak enemies that are sheltered in fortresses and must be "popped" to progress.
The Minion Pigs are in the lowest rank of the Piggy kingdom society and make up the majority of its population. Lacking basic rights, they are constantly exploited by the regime but are nevertheless content with their lives. Although they do not like fighting, the Minion Pigs carry out their superiors' orders without question, forcing them into the kingdom's ongoing conflict with the Angry Birds.[1][3] The pigs often face harsh punishments for dissidence, including deportation from the Piggy kingdom.
Appearance
The Minion Pigs are ordinary, limbless pigs of varying size with green skin. They have cartoonish, black eyes with a snout in-between, two small ears, and a short pig tail. Their design has seen slight variations over time: early versions of the original games featured them with small eyes and a lime skin; the eyes were later enlarged, and the proportions were streamlined overall for a more cartoonish look. The design featured in Angry Birds Toons reverts to the smaller eyes and gives the Minions a darker skin color than before.
Although often seen bare, the Minions sometimes wear some clothing, most frequently headwear, for varying purposes. This includes protective gear like helmets and costumes like cowboy hats, wigs, and Santa hats.
Personality
These cheery green guys get a bad rap. For all of the demonization they receive from the birds, they've got a lot going for them. They're ingenious engineers and inventors, they have a healthy (although silly and immature) sense of humor, they never let anything get them down. However, under the rule of Leonard, their best qualities are weaponized against the birds, making them a serious threat. But you have to admit, they are kinda cute.
Variations
Small Pig
- Main article: Minion Pigs/Small Pig
Small Pigs (also known as Tiny Pigs) are special types of Minion Pigs featured in the first four Angry Birds games and are the smallest of the entire Pig. They're the first pigs encountered in the entire game, starting at Theme 1-1. They are also the weakest species of pig in the games and they appear in and is defeated by a simple falling bird or block. They're weaker than all the other pigs in the game and are very common after their first appearance.
Medium Pig
- Main article: Minion Pigs/Medium Pig
The Medium Pig is a medium-sized pig and the 2nd weakest pig in the game. Because of its medium size, it is the second largest of the Minion Pigs. It can be easily destroyed by all birds, but usually in large buildings. It is weaker than the Large Pig, Helmet Pig, Moustache Pig, and King Pig. The only pig that is weaker than this pig is the Small Pig. It first appears in Poached Eggs Theme 1-14 and is quite common after its first appearance.
Large Pig
- Main article: Minion Pigs/Large Pig
Large Pigs are a species of Bad Piggies in the Angry Birds series and are the largest of the Minion Pigs. This pig is the third weakest of all the Pigs in the game, and is weaker than the Corporal Pig, Foreman Pig, and King Pig, and is stronger than the Small Pig and the Medium Pig.
Huge Pig
- Main article: Fat Pig
Huge Pigs are huge sized pigs in the Angry Birds series, they are the largest of the Minion Pigs. This pig is very strong, having to take several hits to be defeated, they are stronger than King Pig and any type of pig, they appear mostly on Angry Birds Friends, having various variations, not counting their Angry Birds Evolution version. Examples of huge pigs are Fat Pig, Sea Monster Pig, Dragon Pig, Rampig, Big Pig etc.
Professions
- Main article: Category:Professions of Pigs
Throughout the series of games and media, Minion Pigs are depicted as having jobs and roles to fulfill in order to keep the Piggy kingdom running. These positions could vary, from construction worker to bodyguard.
Powers and abilities
While not having any unique superhuman abilities, save for strength & speed comparable to actual horses (the reason King Pig's cart is able to move so quickly is because of the pigs themselves pulling the vehicle), the Minion Pigs can use their tails for a variety of things. They have been able to turn them into swords[5] and functional corkscrews[6] with no problem. In addition, they are experienced builders; once, a Minion Pig managed to build three entire houses on his own.[7]
Minion Pigs are also durable, with them surviving repeated blunt-force trauma multiple times, and are even resilient enough to be used as wheels for vehicles without any problem.
The Minion Pigs are able to cheat death; when they are hurt enough, they will be sent to a white limbo, where they will be healed by Dr. Pork and then taken back to the normal world.[8] There are also Minion Pigs who managed to directly revive from the dead without going to the limbo, such as the undead enemies and the Zombie Pigs.
Weaknesses
The Minion Pigs are very weak to attacks and can be popped very easily.

Angry Birds Block Quest
Starting from level 2, Minion Pigs appear as enemies the player must wipe off the screen by filling a line. While counted as a separate clear condition, base Minion Pigs essentially act like blocks, with no stand-out features or unique properties.
However, there is a variation of Minion Pigs in the form of the Pig Stack. As the name would suggest, the Pig Stack is a stack of Minion Pigs that must be cleared to be knocked down. Once knocked over, the stack will dissolve into three Minion Pigs, which must be cleared individually.

Angry Birds Toons
Minion Pigs are featured as one of the main antagonists in the Angry Birds Toons series and makes multiple appearances in many of the episodes, sometimes the subject on their own. The series shows more depth to the Minion Pigs as characters and their interests other than what the games have shown us.
A notable role is in Golditrotters where one minion pig named the same name said goodbye to her grandma (Professor Pig) before gleefully prancing in the forest at the start of the story. Just after starting her trek, she noticed a big house. She went into it and noticed three bowls of oatmeal. She decided to try them all out. The first bowl of oatmeal was too hot (causing her to breathe fire and burn the bowl), and the second one was too cold (causing her hair and tongue to freeze). However, the third one was just right (she even eats part of the bowl itself).
Golditrotters walked into a room with three slingshots, and tried them all out. The first slingshot was too elastic ("she" got spun around and bucked her off), and the second one was too stiff (it broke). However, the third one was just right ("she" even broke most of the room). After feeling exhausted from breaking the room (which "she" did not noticed), "she" instead found three nestbeds and once again tried them all out. The first nestbed was too big (it nearly suffocated "her"), the second one was too small, but the third one was just right, and "she" happily slept on it for an extended time.
Soon, when Golditrotters woke up, "she" noticed three evil beasts resembling Red, Matilda, and one of The Blues. They were really angry after what "she" had done to their stuff in their house. Frightened, "she" jumped out the window, left the three monster birds' house, and ran back to "her" own house. Opening and shutting the door, "she" then sighed in relief. But, to make matters worse, Terence was on "her" grandma's bed. He then suddenly started to stare at Golditrotters which scared "her" to death.
Piggy Tales
Minion Pigs are featured as the main protagonists in the Piggy Tales series and makes multiple appearances in all of the episodes. The series shows more depth to the Minion Pigs as characters and their interests other than what the games and other media have shown us.
Angry Birds Stella
The minion pigs appear as one of the main antagonists in the angry birds Stella series. Ultimately, the minion pigs in this show are completely harmless- and would remain as so if they weren't always trying to appease Gale, the bad princess.

Angry Birds Slingshot Stories
Minion Pigs are one of the main characters in the series. They use their Toons, Piggy Tales and Stella Toons design in this series.
Book appearances
Angry Birds: Mystery of the Green Bird
The first sign of Pig activity we get is when a Minion spy overhears Matilda talking about a possible new bird on the island. We later see large amounts of Minions when the scout reports back to King Pig. Chef Pig swiftly creates a plan to send a Minion disguised as a bird into The Flock's camp in order to steal The Eggs. The King selects one small, unfortunate Minion to carry out the heist. Traditional minions are absent for the remainder of the book.
Angry Birds: Mystery of the Lost Treasure
Despite being on the cover, and general expectations for a piece of Angry Birds media, the pigs have a very small role, and act more like an obstacle than an antagonist. They only appear in a single scene, where Chuck runs into a pig-operated fort, and has to sneak past a large quantity of sleeping Minion Pigs on his way to acquire a treasure. Chuck's mission is made significantly easier by The Blues running ahead of him and plugging the pigs' ears with moss, preventing them from hearing Chuck.
Angry Birds: Red Bird To The Rescue!
When Red and the rest of The Flock are just waking up, a singular Minion Pig takes off with one of The Eggs, leading Red on a wild goose chase across The Island to get it back. The chase ends when the Minion returns to King Pig with the Egg, unfortunately leading Red right to them. Red swiftly retrieves the Egg, defeating King Pig and the Minions present.

Angry Birds: Stella and the Hunt for the Jade Egg
As with most of their appearances, the Minion Pigs are an ever-present threat. The plot of the book involves the Piggy kingdom stealing a pendant belonging to Matilda, mistaking it for an Egg. While Chef Pig is cooking The Jade Egg, Stella and Bubbles, disguised as Minion Pigs themselves, sneak into the city to retrieve it. They manage to talk their way past the first set of Minion Pigs guarding the door, but the Minion they ask about The Jade Egg proves to be far more intelligent than they were prepared for. The Minion not only see's through their disguise, but is able to spot inconsistencies in their fabricated stories. The two are able to lose the Minion, but the perceptive pig raises the alarm. The Minions are unable to locate Stella or Bubbles, with a color-blind Minion accusing other Minions of being the birds, adding to the confusion.
The duo are able to retrieve The Jade Egg from Chef Pig, but are initially unable to make an escape, as the Minion Pigs shut the doors to the city. Chef Pig orders the minions after them, and they're just barely able to escape when Bubbles inflates, allowing him and Stella to clear the wall. The minions pour out of the city and give chase, nearly catching Stella and Bubbles before an onslaught of rocks curtesy of The Blues stops the oncoming Pig army.
Angry Birds: Bomb's Best Birthday
A small group of minions cameo at the very end of the book, about to be caught in the crossfire of Bomb's birthday-induced explosion.
Angry Birds: Cheer Up, Chuck!
A group of Minion Pigs are seen aiding Corporal Pig by steeling trash that Chuck fishes up to use to procure The Eggs. The story ends with their plot failing as usual after a fight with The Flock.
Angry Birds: Stella and the Egg Tree
Minion Pigs are seen across the book. Several of them populate King Pig's throne room, and a group of them tag along with Corporal Pig during his egg-napping attempt.
Angry Birds: Red And The Great Fling-Off
During Corporal Pig's ploy to use the Great Fling-Off as a distraction in order to nab The Eggs, the three Minions accompanying him are the ones who hold The Eggs proper. When Red and Chuck discover this plan, having slept late and missing the Fling-Off, the pigs' plan falls apart, and the egg-thieves receive a thrashing from the birds.
Angry Birds: Captain Badburger
The first Minion Pig we see in the book is Rickets, an old lighthouse keeper, panicking about a small boat moving past his lighthouse. This boat happens to belong to Captain Badburger, and gets sent out to find people and bring them to the Saucy Pickle in order to be added to Badburger's crew. Rickets is relieved to see the boat pass him by.
We later see traditional Minions act as messengers for King Pig, who uses them to keep tabs on his plan to use Badburger to steal The Eggs. When the King's double agent, Captain Bigbeard, is outed as a spy, it's revealed that his crew were all Minion Pigs dressed as pirates.
A Pig From The Stars And Other Stories 1
A Pig From The Stars
A group of Minion Pigs populate King Pig's Castle throughout the story, with one even being in attendance during the feast held for the Pig From The Stars. It's thanks to one Minion in particular that the Pig From The Stars is outed as being a painter named Bert.
The Abominable Snowbird
When The Blues go to the Crown Mountains to play in the snow, they are harassed by a group of Minion Pigs. The pigs pelt the brothers with snowballs and destroy their snow sculptures with sleds. The pigs are eventually chased off when the triplets create the Abominable Snowbird.
The Pig Who Saved The Northern Lights
During an especially cold night, King Pig has his Minions bringing in firewood while he listens to Chronicler Pig's story. King Pig continues to order the Minion Pigs to throw wood into the fire, eventually setting the castle ablaze.
A Pig From The Stars And Other Stories 2
The Ice Castle
When Spott's expedition team break into Pig Palace, mistaking it for the Ica Castle they were supposed to find, King Pig surrounds the explorers with Minions once they're asleep. It's actually a Minion that saves the group from punishment when he points out the comedy of the situation, causing King Pig to break out into laughter and dismiss the group.
The Minion Pig's Day Off
When Digger tries to join a group of Minions to work on something, he finds all the jobs taken. A group of Minion Pigs are later seen accompanying Corporal Pig on an unspecified mission, and are tricked into taking the day off by Digger.
A Pig From The Stars And Other Stories 3
If Pigs Could Fly
During the air show, Minion Pigs arrive in droves. We see Minion Pigs as part of the crowd, as well as helping The Pilot behind the scenes.
A Pig From The Stars And Other Stories 4
Chuck And Stella's Rescue Mission
A pair of Minion Pigs accompany Foreman Pig to chop down a tree. When they set up camp for the night, the group wake up to find the tools burned in the camp fire. Foreman Pig blames the Minions, but in reality it was Chuck and Stella, who burned the tools to protect the tree. When they try to leave, they are chased and stung by a swarm of bees Chuck angered.
Pink!
When Hamadeus begins sleep walking, mumbling about a Pink Bird, two other Minions take notice, and report it to Foreman Pig, The Foreman instructs the two pigs to keep quiet about Hamadeus's condition while he takes it up with the hire-ups of Pig City.
Angry Birds: The Attack of The Monster
A cluster of Minions are first seen knocking Matilda unconscious while exiting their hiding spot on a tree. The Minions stuff the unresponsive hen into a burlap sack and bring her back to Pig City as a captive. Unfortunately for all involved, Matilda goes missing, and is replaced by a large monster. The Minion Pigs' attempt to keep it confined to the dungeon fail, and the beast breaks free from its prison. We last see an army of Minion Pigs being tossed around like sports balls by the creature before it turns it's attention to the newly arrived Birds.
Angry Birds: The Tale of a Featherless Friend
Minion Pigs appear consistently throughout The Tale of a Featherless Friend. They first appear as onlookers when The Featherless Friend is catapulted out of Pig City, and then later reappear on patrol in order to reclaim him from The Flock. They are defeated by Stella, who uses bubbles to send blobs of mud at the Minion Pigs, disorienting them.
