There is no one in the world whom I cannot kill if I want to.

Sima Chak

Sima Chak, also known as the Wicked Moon Sword, is a member of the Four Great Evils and the father of Sima Young.

Appearance[]

Sima Chak is tall man with a thin but frame mustache. His face was as pale as a ghost, enough to scare a person. He usually wearing a black robe.

Personality[]

Sima Chak holds a deep contempt for hypocrites, cowards, and especially the "weak." As a martial artist, he is ruthless, showing little hesitation in eliminating anyone who poses a threat to him.

Despite his hard exterior, he is protective of his only daughter, acting on emotion rather than logic when it comes to her well-being. Initially disapproving of her relationship with Woonhwi, he eventually gives his reluctant blessing.

He is ruthless towards the enemies and prefer to kill them to avoid future complications. Pragmatic in his decisions, Sima Chak takes the most effective route when possible.

Sima Chak analyzes every move deeply; striving to understand and master the techniques he encounters. A genius in his own right, he created his own peerless martial art, admired and feared by many.

Sima Chak’s personality in many aspects mirrors that of a Heavenly Demon. Ironically both of them also rejected Jin Woon-Hwi offer of walking the path of ancient immortals. Though Chun Ma was much more cruel just for the sake of it and did eventually chose to ascend to the other side just like Jin Woon-Hwi.

History[]

When Sima Chak sought help from the Murim Alliance, his pleas were ignored, revealing their growing disdain for him. Soon after, the Murim Alliance framed him for a massacre, labeling him a criminal based on the false testimonies of a few surviving members of the Sima Family. In truth, these family members had been complicit in the attack, envious of Sima Chak's talents and conspiring with a golden-eyed man to destroy the family.

Outraged by this betrayal and injustice, Sima Chak took brutal revenge, slaughtering everyone sent to arrest him without mercy. He killed their families and countless others tied to them, aiming to make them feel the same helplessness and loss he had endured. Unable to clear his name, Sima Chak embraced the role of one of the Four Great Evils, fully aware that he was now branded a criminal.

To fuel his revenge, Sima Chak, alongside his companion Du Gong, searched for clues related to the golden-eyed man. Their pursuit was like chasing shadows until Jin Woon-Hwi unintentionally freed Seobok, a man with two golden eyes. Seobok was the most significant clue they had found, and because of his carefree nature, Sima Chak and Du Gong managed to track him down. However, before Sima Chak arrived, Seobok was discovered by enemy forces, including the Golden Eye Troops. The two masters had no choice but to join forces against the greater threat, retreating to Sima Chak’s location.

The two of them managed to reach Sima Chak, but soon after, they faced the enemy for the first time: the infamous one-eyed man, accompanied by his right hand man, bow master. This set the stage for a fierce battle between five martial artist masters, all of whom were Enlightened Grandmasters. "Wicked Moon Sword," driven by his desire for vengeance against the man who killed his wife, gave it his all from the beginning. However, the enemies were stronger than he had anticipated, especially considering their unnatural regenerative abilities. Despite this, there were still chances for Sima Chak’s side to emerge victorious.

Unfortunately, enemy reinforcements arrived, and the battle’s dynamics shifted when a mysterious white-haired woman, Seolbaek, joined the fray. This forced Sima Chak's side to retreat. During the escape, both Du Gong and Seobok were captured. Sima Chak, badly injured by Seolbaek’s freeze qi, managed to flee by the river, but his injuries were severe, penetrating deep to his bones.

Desperate for survival, Sima Chak sought refuge in the Shaolin Temple, hoping the monks could cure him. Though they saved his life, they intentionally didn’t heal him fully, leaving him in a state of pathetic imprisonment. The only comfort Sima Chak had were the visits from his daughter, Sima Young, who regularly begged the monks to release her father. Despite her efforts, nothing changed until the unexpected invasion of the Blood Demon.

Jin Woon-Hwi, after his time in Dohwaseon, confronted the entire Shaolin Temple and freed his father-in-law. Demonstrating his overwhelming power, Jin Woon-Hwi used the fourth stage of the Illusionary Eye, defeating 108 elite Arhat monks with a single step, thus freeing Sima Chak.

Have you seen father? With Young Lord’s single step, the hundred and eight Arhats that Shaolin is proud of collapsed.

Sima Young, to Sima Chak

Myst, Might, Mayhem[]

After the events of Absolute Sword Sense, Sima Chak lived a relatively peaceful life for several years, often visiting his daughter and granddaughter. These visits brought him great joy, especially because his granddaughter, Jin Ryeong-ah, bore a striking resemblance to his late wife. This resemblance was the primary reason Sima Chak declined Jin Woon-Hwi's offer to join the Dohwaseon realm.

Over time, Sima Chak eventually met his granddaughter’s partner, Ha-Yoon, who had been gifted with the Moonless Void Sword scripture after Sima Chak deemed himself unable to protect Ryeong-ah. Sima Chak, now older and wiser, withdrew into isolation to train further, keeping in contact only with Ryeong-ah. During his time away, he also met his great-granddaughter for the first time and witnessed the remarkable growth of Ha-Yoon, who vowed to protect his wife at any cost.

However, years later, during the great calamity—likely occurring some 50 years after Absolute Sword Sense based on Ryeong-ah’s age—Sima Chak was drawn back into the world when he sensed something ominous. Despite years of isolated training, he had reached a higher martial realm, allowing him to perceive the disturbance. He arrived too late to save Ryeong-ah and Ha-Yoon, finding their bodies. It was clear that Ha-Yoon had fought valiantly to protect Ryeong-ah, but had ultimately failed, dying with deep resentment. Sima Chak, with his newly gained spiritual vision, was able to communicate with Ha-Yoon's vengeful spirit and learned of the terrible events that had occurred.

Determined to seek justice, Sima Chak rushed to confront the Blood Cult and find the remaining descendants of Jin Woon-Hwi. He arrived just in time to stop an unknown master from attacking the Blood Cult survivors. In a fierce battle, Sima Chak's overwhelming power easily crushed the Blade God, forcing the blade wielder to retreat.

After this tragic series of events, Sima Chak dedicated himself to searching for his missing great-granddaughter and uncovering the culprits behind the great calamity. His search was long and arduous, spanning many years. Along the way, he continued to visit the vengeful spirit of Ha-Yoon, and ironically, they formed a bond over time, becoming unlikely friends after Ha-Yoon's death.

During one of his visits to the vengeful spirit of Ha-Yoon, Sima Chak encountered a young man, Mok Gyeongwoon, who would later become the Heavenly Demon. Unintentionally, Mok Gyeongwoon had played a role in resolving part of Ha-Yoon’s grudge, which had been fueled by the local government’s massive crimes against innocent civilians. After observing Mok Gyeongwoon's personality and potential, Sima Chak was amazed by the young man’s abilities. Recognizing the fate that had brought them together, the Wicked Moon Sword decided to reward him for his remarkable potential and for helping Ha-Yoon.

Sima Chak believes their meeting was guided by destiny, and he saw in Mok Gyeongwoon a talented individual, much like the boy with the Yokai Sword he had encountered on the boat in the past. In an act of mentorship, Sima Chak presented him with his ultimate version of the Moonless Void Sword—an evolution inspired by a move Jin Woon-Hwi had copied from the Sword Immortal during their duel.

This encounter inspired Mok Gyeongwoon to refine and evolve the Moonless Void Sword into the Demon Sword Arts, a powerful martial technique that would later become central to his identity as the Heavenly Demon. As a result of this training, Mok Gyeongwoon was regarded by those connected to Jin Woon-Hwi as a disciple of Sima Chak, marking a significant moment in both of their paths.

Abilities[]

As one of Four Great Evil, his martial art power is domineering and one of the greatest in the murim. He once killed 200 martial artis overnight and defeated another 400 hundred martial artist that try to ambush him. Other Great Evil prefer not to engage him in battle.

He was able to fight with ease against and overwhelm the combine effort of 2 Elders (Hae Ak-Cheon and Seo Kalma), 2 Blood stars (Do Jang-Ho and Han Baek-Ha), led by a Supermaster Jin Woon-Hwi augmented by the Blood Demon Sword's power. But he was not able to subdue them without harm.

He is also known for being very intelligent as he was easily able to decipher Blood Cult's messages written in code for only its members to read. Being quick witted also helped him in many situations related to analyze martial arts. For example, when Jin Woon-Hwi used fourth stage of Illusionary Eye in form of Domineering step, Sima Chak was able to instantly recognize how this technique works, but he still could not recognize what type of energy it is. Wicked Moon Sword based oh his deduction was able to guess existence of heart sword, despite not even reaching formless sword yet.
