Linka Cassini (Japanese: リンカ・カシィ, Rinka) is a character in Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed.

Overview[]

Linka is a soldier for the Liberators under Rex's command, whom she addresses as "Boss" (先生, Sensei). She appears to both be loyal and on good terms with her superior, talking to him in a more calm and casual tone compared to other Liberator soldiers. In the past, Linka used to eat Fried Octomayo with her parents, who are all but outright named as Zeke and Pandoria.

She would later become the founder of House Cassini when the City was rebuilt, making Masha one of her descendants.

Appearance[]

Linka is a slim woman with very pale skin. Like most Agnian Humans, she has a Core Crystal underneath her collarbone, which bears some resemblance to Pandoria's. She is biologically of half-Tantalese and half-Blade origin.

Her vivid, green hair is kept fairly short and tied into two hair buns, with the front of her hair being parted into curtains. She also wears a small, purple headband or hairpin with a silver stud on one end.

Her attire consists of a pair of long gloves, shorts, a crop-top and a hooded jacket that is adorned with a belt around her waist. Almost all of her articles of clothing are black and purple, excluding her crop-top and a small pair of frameless round glasses.

Linka's Blade is a standard staff that is a common weapon among other Liberators.

Story[]

Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed[]

Linka originally lived in Alrest with her parents, likely being Zeke and Pandoria. At some point after Z used Origin to create Aionios, Linka joined the Liberators and became Rex's disciple. Linka was among the few people who were not assimilated by Origin.

During the party's fight against Moebius W, Linka and Rex arrive in time to provide support. Linka later backs up Rex when he, Shulk, and Matthew attack W and his Ferronis simultaneously, destroying the Moebius. The next day, the Liberators take Matthew, A, Nikol, and Glimmer with them to Colony 9. Linka goes ahead to prepare the party's lodgings while Panacea shows them around the colony. The next day, the party is informed of a distress signal coming from Raguel Lake on The Ragmos Desolation, which they go to investigate.

After the party's encounter with Na'el and Alpha at Raguel Lake, Rex and Shulk explain to Nikol, Glimmer, and Matthew about the history of their original worlds and how Aionios came into being. After their story, Linka questions why Alpha would specifically choose Na'el to inhabit, to which Rex states its likely due to the fact that Na'el has Agnian ancestry and in terms of hereditary traits, Core Crystals get dominance. Rex theorizes that it is because Alpha got injured when they fought or that she has got whatever he is lacking. The next morning, Linka goes with the party as they leave for the Black Mountains, where Prison Island is located, in order to get to Origin.

Sometime after Alpha is vanquished and the reconstruction of the City begins, Linka, along with Glimmer, Nikol, Riku, Panacea, and Na'el, send Matthew off as he sets out on a journey by himself, leaving the City in the hands of his friends and family.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3[]

Legacy as the City's Liberatrix[]

Linka eventually became the Founder of House Cassini and had a family.

When the City was rebuilt, a statue honoring Linka was placed in the Memorial Hall alongside the statues of the other founders. However, despite the statue being for Linka, she chose to have the statue depict Rex instead, as a sign of the deep respect and devotion she felt for her mentor.

NPC[]

Linka is an NPC in Xenoblade Chronicles 3: Future Redeemed. Her Community is gained when talking to her in the Command Center after completing Linka's Birthday and all nine requests from the request board.

Quotes[]

  • "Us Liberators originally lived in separate worlds. Shulk and Panacea in the world of the Bionis, and Boss and I in Alrest... With me so far? When Aionios was born, most people were assimilated by Origin, but there were also exceptions such as us."
  • "It may be that we have a role to play in this world. Something like that."

Etymology[]

The name Rinka in Japanese has various different meanings depending on the kanji characters used, with the most popular readings including "dignified scent" or "pear fruit." However, since her name is written in katakana, the meaning is ambiguous. Her name might also be based on Pandoria's Japanese name, Saika.

Her name might also derive itself from Linka Honey.
