Celebrity Jeopardy! (2022)
Awful version of a classic game show
Jeopardy is my version of doing crossword puzzles to sharpen my mind. This celebrity version is totally mindless. The questions are absolutely juvenile. I can easily answer almost every clue. It is as if it was designed for a twelve year old. It is such a dumbed down version of the real show. And, the so called celebs spend so much time trying to be cute and entertaining it is just annoying. These celebs are little known and are auditioning for affection and attention at the expense of the show. It is really sad to see people so desperate for attention.
I think it is a disgrace that Jeopardy approved this show. I know it can be better in time.
The Starling (2021)
Original
My husband and I watched this movie tonight. It was very charming and fresh. It moved along swiftly. So sensitive with a touch of very dry humor. The performances by everyone were excellent.
A good example of a movie made by a good script.
I have no idea why movie critics trashed this. Movie critics are no longer relevant in my esteem. I think they are desperate to be relevant.
On the Verge (2021)
Terrible
Yet another series about shallow, self centered people.
I think those days are over for now.
Scenes from a Marriage (2021)
Well, how dull.
Put pretty simply, did this couple realize what marriage means? They seem old enough to have realized this if they are only married ten years.
Everyone is so self absorbed and off putting.
Ratched (2020)
Production values were great.
The production values in this series were eye poppingly gorgeous. That is what drew me in.
The first few episodes were intriguing. Then, things began to become inanely preposterous. The extreme pile of bodies murdered within this hospital was absurd. Did none of these murdered people have a relative or friend wonder what happened to them? And, the priest killer brother broke out of this hospital how many times from maximum security?
This show could have been so good with these excellent actors had it been played with restraint. Instead, it just wants to be excessively gruesome and silly for no reason at all except to be extreme.
Ryan Murphy, pull yourself in a bit from now on.
Rocketman (2019)
Truly bad
A cheap imitation of a Baz Luhrmann movie. It does not work in any way.
I'd say Valley of the Dolls bad, but I've watched that movie for kitschy fun more than once. This is just bad Cinema. I will never revisit this stinker.
Change in the Air (2018)
Don't waste your time.
A very bad movie with good actors. This movie doesn't make any sense at all. It is like your friend high on weed telling you about their dream.
The Irishman (2019)
Lousy movie, beautifully produced.
I am a great admirer of Martin Scorsese for many reasons. His contributions to film preservation are greatly appreciated. And, his many contributions to Cinema in his own right. He has made many movies I love, and have watched over and over.
The Irishman is a total misfire in so many ways, i don't know where to begin. Most of all, the main actors are in their late seventies. That is simply embarrassing for them. No amount of cgi will erase stiff joints whilst playing a thirty year old.
The movie could have been two hours long, not three and a half hours long. There was simply no reason for this movie to be so long. And yes, it dragged. I find these auteur directors definitely need a producer breathing down their neck to edit, edit, edit.
It took me two nights to finish this fiasco once I was invested in it. It seemed like it went on two weeks.
It was sadly an old folks show, in the saddest possible way.
