Show creator David E. Kelley originally came up with the idea that Chez Jay and the Ocean Lodge would be Billy's anchor point, living and working in the motel and drinking at the bar. David had his first date with his wife, Michelle Pfeiffer, at Chez Jay, which created a sentimental tie for him.

Goofs
In the two scenes with the two woman amputees, the brown dress woman's amputated leg changes sides. In the kitchen it is her left leg gone, when dead, the right leg.

The Top of the Totem Pole

Billy senses Mirasol's dishonesty but isn't positive. He tries to get a couple pieces of evidence eliminated, but forces beyond his control destroy any chance at that. The cops are so corrupted. We find out about the cartel and how it came to be. It is a horror on earth. There is dismemberment and horrible consequences for anyone who crosses the drug lord. Meanwhile, one of the players is getting scared and becoming a liability. Well done episode with some block building that will give us some perks later.
