It may be some time before we see Alan Wake coming to our TV screens. Given the current trend of video games being picked up and adapted to the screen, fans of the cult franchise are desperate to see this being brought to life, and rightly so. Given the storyline and the psychological terrors that accompany the game, it is easily one game that could be successful.

Despite AMC buying the rights to the game franchise to develop it into a television series, we have heard very little regarding this and hopefully, it doesn’t descend into development limbo, never to be heard of again. Those looking to jump back in to Alan Wake 2 to experience the New Game Plus mode can do so today. Announced during The Game Awards 2023, the New Game Plus mode, referred to as “The Final Draft”, allows players to not play Alan Wake 2 with all of their weapons, charms and player upgrades, but also introduces a new difficulty mode and a new ending.

“From the beginning, our plan was to create a New Game Plus mode for Alan Wake 2 as an essential part of the experience,” explains Remedy Creative Director Sam Lake via PlayStation Blog. “When we started working on the game and the story, the idea was always there. It made sense on multiple levels. We were creating a dense experience. It felt that there was enough to support multiple playthroughs for all the aspects of the story to sink in, and for all the collectibles to be found and pieced together.

Screambox has revealed the new films that are joining the horror streaming service in December, including the goriest film you’ve never seen, Adam Chaplin, as well as the “Frankenstein”-inspired Santastein, body-swap thriller Devils, and classics Dario Argento’s Phenomena and Tobe Hooper’s Eaten Alive.

Fresh off its Beyond Fest premiere, the extended cut of Adam Chaplin is streaming exclusively on Screambox now! Drawing comparison to The Crow, Fist of the North Star, and Riki-Oh: The Story of Ricky, the unrated Italian splatterfest is a must-see for gorehounds.

Alan Wake 2 has a deep and intriguing mystery that extends beyond the game into other titles and even TV shows. With a story that's been over a decade in the making, it makes sense that the second game, which takes place 13 years after the first title, would include a few hidden details. While some are more innocuous call-backs to previous media in the extended Remedy universe, others serve as clever clues left behind by the game's writer, Sam Lake, and the team of creatives at Remedy Entertainment.

One such clue is the creepy owl in Alan's office that follows the character with its eyes. While unsettling, it seems like it would be a completely innocuous addition to freak out those paying attention. However, another train of thought and theory could lend itself to uncovering the greater mysteries and unsolved story threads that have weaved their way into the Alan Wake narrative.

Alan Wake 2 draws heavily from Twin Peaks, particularly the third season, The Return, in terms of tone and narrative focus. Both Twin Peaks and Alan Wake are set in small Washington towns, where dark secrets and inexplicable events disrupt peaceful lives. Twin Peaks and Alan Wake both feature parallel universes that their protagonists enter but cannot easily leave, and evil doppelgängers that play major roles in the plot.

Alan Wake 2 wears its influences on its sleeve, and Twin Peaks might be the one it's proudest of. Twin Peaks, which began airing in 1990, is part gentle soap opera satire, and part surreal murder mystery. But where the first Alan Wake was based on the first two seasons of Twin Peaks, Alan Wake 2 has more in common with the third season, The Return. Scratch, the shadow creature spreading corruption and chaos in Alan Wake 2, is the final boss you have to beat toward the end of this intense survival horror game. The game will feature a new protagonist, Saga Anderson, and a different story set 13 years after the events of the first game. Gameplay in Alan Wake 2 will expand on the original, introducing new enemy types, reducing combat quantity, and implementing new mechanics.

Alan Wake 2 is undeniably different from its predecessor. Some of those differences are no doubt borne out of necessity; it's been a full 13 years and two console generations since the first game's release, and a lot has changed in the interim. Player tastes, platform exclusivity, and even console and PC specifications have come a long way since 2010, and Alan Wake 2 needs to adapt in order to keep up with the times.

But still, Alan Wake 2 is a sequel, and a direct sequel at that.

Stephen Emery, a producer at Big Swell Entertainment, died unexpectedly following a workout at a Los Angeles gym on Saturday. He was 46.

A cause of death has not been determined, but Emery had survived a heart attack five years ago.

“Everyone that had the pleasure to know Stephen Emery is heartbroken over the sudden loss of one of our own,” said Big Swell founder Andy Horwitz. “Stephen was much more than an invaluable producer, he was also an irreplaceable friend.”

Prior to Big Swell, which was launched last year, Emery was Head of Film & TV at The Solution Entertainment Group from 2016 until 2022, developing, packaging, and producing a wide slate for both film and television. He co-executive produced Wheelman directed by Jeremy Rush and starring Frank Grillo for Netflix; and executive produced Killerman directed by Malik Bader and starring Liam Hemsworth; Line of Duty, directed by Steven C. Stephen Emery, producer and entertainment executive, died suddenly after a workout in Redondo Beach, Calif., on Oct. 14. He was 46.

Emery was a producer at Big Swell Entertainment, a production company launched by Andy Horowitz in late 2022, and previously served as head of film and TV at The Solution Entertainment Group from 2016 until 2022. He is known for his work co-executive producing Netflix’s “Wheelman” and executive producing “Killerman,” “Line of Duty,” “Honest Thief” and the upcoming “Werewolves.”

“Everyone that had the pleasure to know Stephen Emery is heartbroken over the sudden loss of one of our own. Stephen was much more than an invaluable producer, he was also an irreplaceable friend,” Horowitz said in a statement. “His passion for film was outweighed only by his passion for life, and he lived every day like it was his last. We will miss his adventurous spirit, his loyal friendship, and his genuine love for life.

We already know that Alan Wake will be taking a trip to Fortnite in the coming weeks. But Epic and Remedy have decided to add a little something more for those newcomers to the Alan Wake series that (still?!) haven’t played the original game, as well as those in need of a refresher in Alan Wake: Flashback.

Ahead of the release of Alan Wake 2, Fortnite players can check out the Alan Wake: Flashback Island by entering the code 3426-5561-3374. According to the description of the trailer, players will “rediscover the mysteries of Bright Falls and shine your light on events from Alan Wake” with the Island, which was created in collaboration with Remedy Entertainment, Spiral House and Zen Creative.

Meanwhile, Alan Wake will arrive in Fortnite proper on October 26 at 8pm Et, when the Alan Wake Outfit, alongside other in-game cosmetics in the “Waking Nightmare” Set will be available in the Item Shop.
