“Stranger Things” actor Brett Gelman is set to star in “Entitled,” a half-hour comedy series ordered at Showtime in the U.S. and Channel 4 in the U.K.
Created by Matt Morgan, the show follows Gabe (Gelman), an American widower who must get to know his British wife’s estranged family. In their crumbling gothic mansion in the English countryside, they compete for his affections — and his newly inherited fortune.
A co-production between Showtime and Channel 4 in association with All3Media International, “Entitled” is executive produced by Morgan and Gelman, along with Harry Williams, Jack Williams and Sarah Hammond of Two Brothers Pictures, the producers behind “Fleabag,” which Gelman was featured on alongside creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Tim Kirby is directing the eight-episode first season of the show and also executive producing.
Production on “Entitled” is set to begin in Manchester, England, in August. Showtime and Channel 4 are targeting a 2023 premiere for the series.

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones is the first movie based on the best-selling series of novels by Cassandra Clare.
Aimed at the Twilight young-adult market, the fantasy film didn’t quite score as highly as the vampire movie, grossing only $31 million, compared to $193 million for the original Twilight. That could be because critics panned The Mortal Instruments (to the tune of 12% approval, according to Rotten Tomatoes), although fans liked it much more (66%).
Lily Collins (Mirror Mirror) stars in the fantasy film as Clary, a normal teenager who discovers she’s the descendant of a line of Shadowhunters, half-angel warriors trying to save the world from demons. When her mother (Lean Headey, The Purge) disappears, Clary joins forces with a group of Shadowhunters, who introduce her to a dangerous alternate New York called Downworld,...

The Film:
When taken for face value, The Entitled is a movie that should kind of fail on every level. It’s a low budget, direct to video feature starring a few aged stars and a few up and coming ones. Even when looking at the cover of the Blu-Ray/DVD, it just looks generic. After watching it, you realize that this movie is far from a failure. The aged stars; Ray Liotta as Richard Nader, Victor Garber as Bob Vincent and Stephen McHattie as Clifford Jones, do a great job as three rich men who are meeting for a weekend with their kids in a house in the middle of the woods. The young up and comers; John Breger as Jeff Vincent, Dustin Milligan as Nick Nader and the lovely Laura Vandervoot as Hailey Jones are the kids and they, too do a great job. A group of anti-social college students kidnap three of their rich classmates and hold them for ransom, but things soon spiral out of control.
Director: Aaron Woodley

The Delivery
Surprisingly riveting, The Entitled is an entertaining crime thriller that brings an original take on the ransom storyline. It didn't get a theatrical release, and while gong straight to DVD/Blu-ray is usually a warning sign, this is a nice exception. This indie film was obviously shot on a low budget, but it acts and looks like a big budget thriller.

I love direct-to-video genre fare. Not because they’re necessarily good, they typically are the opposite, but it is a method of distribution that gives unknown/under-appreciated filmmakers an avenue to seek a potential audience. More often than not, you’ve never heard of these films until they pop up on the shelf of your local Best Buy or you catch a glimpse of the cover art while browsing Amazon. Typically, you’ll be caught off guard by the presence of some former A or B-list celebrity amidst a cast of unknowns. Such is the case with the recent Anchor Bay release The Entitled.
When you first glance at the cover for The Entitled, the first aspect you’re likely to notice is Ray Liotta’s angry profile. Never mind that his is the last name in the cast listed during the opening credits. No, he clearly is the selling...

In A Better World (Sony) Winner of last year’s Best Foreign Film Oscar, this Danish export looks at two fractured families and the effect that the adult world dysfunction has on their two sons, who form an immediate and potentially deadly bond. What do you do when you can’t afford your mother’s critical medication, your house is being foreclosed upon and you just can’t seem to make ends meet? If your answer is kidnap three rich socialites and make their fathers pay one million dollars each for their safe return, you just might sympathize with the lead character of The Entitled. “I didn’t do it out of greed or envy,” our slightly twisted protagonist Paul Dynan (Kevin Zegers) says at the beginning of the film. “I did it because there was nowhere else to go.” While the opening line may be a little scoff-worthy, as the movie progresses one starts to see how his plan might be justifiable, even smart. By the twisty end, you’ll be reluctantly admitting that his plan was actually pretty damn clever - now if only the movie itself wasn’t so damn boring.

Cast: Kevin Zegers, Ray Liotta, and Stephen McHattie.
The Entitled is a film which was shot in Ontario, Canada, with help from Telefilm Canada. The film stars Kevin Zegers of Wrong Turn fame, Canadian actor Stephen McHattie (Die) and the versatile actor Ray Liotta. This is a tense kidnap thriller that incorporates some important messages about "The American Dream" and its promise of wealth. Occasionally predictable, director Aaron Woodley keeps the tension high through malevolent planning, double-crosses, false accusations and murder.
The film begins with Paul feeling trapped by his job and his lot in life. His mother is sick and her medication bills continue to rise. Meanwhile, his parents have to foreclose on their house. These are desperate times. So, Paul steps outside of the law to plan an elaborate kidnapping, which, while intricate, does not go how he would like. Soon characters are being killed,...

The Entitled is a film of tough times e.g. recession, medical expenses. Kevin Zegers plays Paul, a man driven to desperate measures when his mom needs expensive medication. Unable to find a job, Paul recruits two of his friends to kidnap three socialites, The Entitled. This title recently released on DVD and Blu-Ray and one of the first reviews is in. Matt Paprocki of Do Blue has mentioned the "morality play" and "false tension." It seems The Entitled has missed its mark (review below), but understanding a film from one review is not enough.

Yeah, I went there. This week showcases Image Entertainments suckering of horror fans with their “Midnight Madness” series. The Midnight Madness series includes some of our favorite films slapped with a Blu release with zero special features, but at least there’s a low price, right? I’ll probably avoid them because, let’s face it, I already watch too many movies!
Children of the Corn: The original gets the Midnight Madness treatment, woo! Hey, Linda Hamilton is in it, that’s cool. “Are you Sarah Connor?”
The Entitled: Released by Anchor Bay/Starz, starring Ray Liotta, so it must be good.
Hanna: Not really horror but it stars a young child killing adults, what could be better? I wanted to see this when it hit theaters and the reception was fairly positive. Eric Bana is in it, so be warned.

These days, financial security seems as much a luxury as a pool, a monkey butler or a private jet. We all want it, but we’re not all gonna get it. Hey, cheer up. If you trust The Entitled, a thriller about extortion and ransom, you can always kidnap the children of the wealthy and wait for a $3 million pay off. While JustPressPlay doesn’t endorse (publicly) kidnapping or any other crimes, we will promote films that do and live vicariously through them. To help you do the same, we’re giving away a copy of Director Aaron Woodley’s The Entitled on Blu-ray. The film stars Kevin Zegers, Victor Garber (Alias), Laura Vandervoort (Smallville), Dustin Milligan (Shark Night 3D), Devon Bostick (Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules), and Ray Liotta (whatever pays).

Kevin Zegers is smokin' in The Entitled.
Anchor Bay will release the 2011 thriller The Entitled, starring Kevin Zegers (Frozen) and Ray Liotta (Something Wild), on Blu-ray and DVD on Sept. 6, for the list prices of 29.99 and $26.98, respectively.
In the movie, Zegers stars as Paul Dynan, who doesn’t have the security of the job he dreamed of so he plans the perfect crime to help his struggling family: extort a fortune from three wealthy men (Liotta, Titanic‘s Victor Garber, and A History of Violence‘s Stephen McHattie). He plans to abduct their socialite children and collect a healthy ransom of $3 million. Well, the kidnapping part goes okay, but it doesn’t take too long before blood is shed and the entire scheme begins to unravel.
Directed by Aaron Woodley (Rhinoceros Eyes) and also starring Laura Vandervoort (TV’s V) and Devon Bostick (Diary of a Wimpy Kid), the film is premiering in the U.

Chloe Sullivan has made her mark on the Superman story through the CW series, Smallville, and DC Comics is recognizing her contribution with Chloe’s first comic book appearance in Action Comics #893. Chloe, played by Allison Mack, is the only character invented for the show that was not from the DC source material.
Nick Spencer, who wrote Chloe’s introduction into the DC Universe, talks about the challenge of her inclusion:
“It’s a pretty different continuity, which I think has always been the challenging part of bringing Chloe into the DC Comics Universe. She’s never existed in the comics before, so in order to make a part of Clark’s life when he was a teenager in Smallville, you’d have to do it somewhat retroactively, and it would age Chloe as a character a lot, since Superman is well past that part of his life in the books.
