The Buckingham Murders

It has been making all the right noises, from its debut at film festivals to now playing in theatres, and rightfully so-it truly deserves the recognition.

A grieving mother, who is also a police officer, is assigned to a murder case after losing her own child. As she delves deeper, she uncovers more than what the case initially appeared to be, with some shocking revelations.

As the title suggests, the story is set in Buckingham, making the movie visually appealing. With every character having a motive for murder, you're glued to your seat. However, a very crucial part of the case feels cinematic with a noticeable loophole, which is hard to overlook. You may narrow down the suspects and possibly identify the guilty party, but it won't diminish your interest, as it's all in the execution.

Kareena Kapoor Khan is the OG in every way. The range of emotions she conveys is just brilliant. She has portrayed the vulnerable character to perfection. It's her show all the way, and after watching the movie, it's clear why she co-produced it-she probably didn't want to miss out on this project at any cost. Ranveer Brar is turning out to be a good actor as well. The rest of the cast is perfectly chosen, too.

Hansal Mehta is a seasoned director, and the way he crafts serious drama is unmatched-this film is no exception. With a 115-minute runtime, it's an easy watch with no unnecessary drama, staying focused on the story. However, the song and the interval in itself did disrupt the flow. The well-done background score added to the thrill, and the LGBTQ+ subplot was portrayed with sophistication.

This is a thriller that definitely deserves your attention and support while it's in theatres. If possible, watch it in Hinglish, as it's the original version, and you'll find the story even more believable.
