Okay “Marvel maniacs”, are you ready for a deep deep dive into another franchise? After all, it’s been nearly three months since the blockbuster “mash-up” Deadpool And Wolverine. Of course you are, but hold up, true believer. This isn’t the beloved MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe). Rather, we’re back in the “Sony Spider-verse”. So Tom Holland is off polishing his web-shooters (not a metaphor), as we get another “spin-off” from Spidey’s long-running comics series. And, unfortunately, this isn’t another romp in the surprisingly fun animated epics. No, this is the second live-action flick this year, after the “so bad it may be good” Madame Web, and while Kraven sharpens his claws for his December attack. And, sorry that vapid vamp Morbius is not returning, although this film’s focus has had better luck with two previous outings in 2018 and 2021. Now, with this third entry, Sony promises...

“Not even on my mind,” Sarandos said, speaking Tuesday at the WSJ Tech Live conference in Laguna Beach, Calif. He was responding to a question by interviewer Emma Tucker, editor in chief of the Wall Street Journal, about whether he was interested in taking on the Disney CEO job. Sarandos commented, “Honestly, I think what we are doing is so exciting.”
On Monday, Disney announced that its board now expects to announce a new CEO in early 2026 to replace Bob Iger, whose contract expires at the end of that year. The succession process is being led by James Gorman, former CEO of Morgan Stanley, who is assuming the role of Disney chairman in January 2025.

Season 2 of this Apple TV+ comedy is full of heart, humor, and hard truths.
The shrinks are at it again. Season 2 of “Shrinking,” starring Jason Segel and Harrison Ford on Apple TV+, picks up right where the first ended and immediately begins exploring the loose ends left dangling by the Season 1 cliffhanger. The first season was all about the characters starring grief in the face and confronting it, and the first episode back makes it clear that the second season will have them learning to grow and attempt to heal from the trauma that drove their choices last season. Fortunately, like the initial 10 episodes that aired in early 2023, this new batch is filled with the heart and humor that made audiences fall in love with this cooky cast of characters a year and a half ago.

In the entertainment business, every job is your last job. This was the mindset Brett Goldstein carried during the first leg of his career, working consistently as both a writer and actor, as well as a podcaster, but even now after he’s achieved international fame following his work on the hit Apple TV+ series “Ted Lasso,” he still feels he needs to be pushing himself as hard as he can.

There’s a possibility that we may be seeing more of “Bad Monkey” on Apple TV+. At least, that’s what the series’ showrunner and star are hoping will happen.

Back in the early 1990s, when they were still in their early-to-mid 20s, Vince Vaughn and Bill Lawrence met at a low-stakes poker game hosted by a mutual friend in Los Angeles. Vaughn had yet to rise to fame alongside Jon Favreau in the buddy comedy film Swingers, and Lawrence, then a standup comedian, was still years away from co-creating Spin City, the ABC sitcom that starred Michael J. Over the years, as their paths continued to cross at social events, Vaughn and Lawrence would keep tabs on each other’s progress. Amazon and Apple, two Silicon Valley behemoths, are teaming up more closely in the streaming arena.
Later this month, Apple TV+ will be available via Prime Video in the U.S. as an add-on subscription for $9.99 per month, Amazon announced Wednesday. That’s the same price Apple charges for the stand-alone streaming service.
Apple TV+ joins Prime Video’s collection of more than 100 add-on subscription options in the U.S., which include Warner Bros. Discovery’s Max, Paramount Global’s Paramount+, Sony’s Crunchyroll and Amazon-owned MGM+.
The deal to bring Apple TV+ into Prime Video is part of Amazon’s strategy to aggregate as many entertainment options as it can for customers — available on one bill, in one app.
“Prime Video is a first-stop entertainment destination offering a wide selection of premium programming,” Mike Hopkins, SVP and Head of Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, said in announcing the pact.
Later this month, Apple TV+ will be available via Prime Video in the U.S. as an add-on subscription for $9.99 per month, Amazon announced Wednesday. That’s the same price Apple charges for the stand-alone streaming service.

‘Bad Sisters’ has received rave reviews, and Apple TV+ subscribers won’t have to go far to find it.
On Wednesday, Oct. 9, “Slow Horses” will wrap up its fourth season on Apple TV+. The show has already been renewed for a fifth, but even so, it will be a while before fans see new episodes after Wednesday’s Season 4 finale. The dry British humor and taught, tense writing of “Slow Horses” make it a must-see for Apple TV+ subscribers, but once you’re finished you may be feeling a little left out in the cold.
There’s no shortage of titles to turn to next on Apple TV+, but if you are looking for a show that will scratch your incessant Slough House-inspired itch, I do have one recommendation that might fit the bill; and it just so happens to be on the same streamer, so you don’t have...

Meryl Streep is lending her voice to the climate change crisis — literally.
The Oscar-winning icon narrates “Want to Tell a Great Story,” a new PSA that debuted today from the Sustainable Entertainment Alliance made in partnership with the Nrdc’s Rewrite the Future.
“Hey, want to see a story about climate change?” Streep asks in the opening seconds before a series of clips from Get Out, The Lego Movie and Anchorman show characters saying “no” in quick succession. “We get it, we really do. Climate change is scary. It can make us feel, well, a little anxious. And we turn to movies and TV to escape. But what if we changed the question?”
Streep does just that and alters the query: “Want to see a great story? Stories can engage with the climate even as they entertain. Whether they are dramatic or funny or stories of courage, stories about protecting what you love,...

When Emmy presenter Catherine O’Hara announced “Hacks” as the winner of Best Comedy Series at Sunday’s Primetime ceremony, awards pundits everywhere had to pick their jaws up off the floor. “The Bear” was the overwhelming front-runner to claim its second victory in that top category, especially after setting a new comedy record in 2024 for 11 wins in the same season. But “Hacks” prevailed, and in doing so it became only the third show in history to win Best Comedy Series for Season 3 after losing its first two bids.
The other two laffers to accomplish this rare Emmy feat are “Get Smart” in 1968 and “Sex and the City” in 2001, which means “Hacks” now finds itself in rare company indeed. For the record, “Get Smart” lost for Season 1 in 1966 to “The Dick Van Dyke Show” and lost for Season 2 in 1967 to “The Monkees”; “Sex and the City” lost for Season 1 in 1999 to...

TV rights to the tournament still haven’t been sold, and FIFA is running out of time.
FIFA is having an awfully difficult time getting the ball down the pitch with its expanded Club World Cup tournament. The tournament has been around since 2000, but in June 2025, the international football governing body was set to dramatically expand the event in hopes of making it a major staple in the sporting and television calendars. However, FIFA still has not lined up a single broadcaster for the tournament, and executives are getting worried. The Athletic reports that FIFA president Gianni Infantino has called an emergency meeting with global television executives in hopes of solving the problem with fewer than 10 months until the tournament is officially set to begin.

The conference is currently focused on adding new member schools, but will have to pivot quickly to a media deal.
Improbably, the Pac-12 conference seems poised to rise from the ashes. The conference is currently down to just two member schools — the Oregon State Beavers and Washington State Cougars — but on Sept. 12, it announced that it had convinced four other schools to join. The Boise State Broncos, Colorado State Rams, Fresno State Bulldogs, and San Diego State Aztecs will all shift from the Mountain West to the Pac-12 starting in 2026, but the new conference is facing the same problem the old Pac-12 had: who will broadcast its games on TV?
Key Details: Industry sources don’t expect anyone to pay more than $45 million per season for the Pac-12 going forward. The Pac-12 still needs to attract two more schools before it’s recognized as an Fbs conference. Apple TV+ was...

TV’s biggest night is back for a second time this year, with the 76th Annual Emmy Awards back to their regularly-scheduled September ceremony. The impact of 2023’s Hollywood strikes is still rippling through the industry — including through the 75th Emmys, which took place earlier this year, in January — but the 2023-2024 Emmy nominees delivered another excellent year of television.
Despite the back-to-back ceremonies, the Emmys eligibility period holds strong; this ceremony will honor TV shows that premiered between June 2023 and May 2024. That includes pre-strike premieres like “The Bear” Season 2 and spring 2024 hits like “Hacks” Season 3. This was the first year without a lot of usual suspects in the Emmy race, such as “Succession,” “Ted Lasso,” “Barry,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” other favorites like “The Gilded Age,” “The Bear,” “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” and “The Crown” are still in the running.

True artificial intelligence might still be years or even decades away, but Apple TV+’s new series “Sunny,” starring Rashida Jones, offers an interesting glimpse into a near future where home robots are more than just stationary speakers answering basic questions. I initially started watching the show for the futuristic fun of it, but the dramedy quickly evolved into something far more thought-provoking than I had initially anticipated. “Sunny” shifted my outlook from apprehension about AI’s potential dangers to a more hopeful vision of the technology as a companion rather than a threat.

Back in 2021, Hannah Waddingham won an Emmy award for playing Rebecca Welton, the emotionally vulnerable owner of the AFC Richmond football club, on the Apple TV+ show Ted Lasso. That was a career high for her, but Game of Thrones fans will likely always remember her as Septa Unella, aka the Shame Nun who rang Cersei Lannister through the streets of King's Landing during her infamous walk of shame.

As it ends up, the roles are connected, since Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss personally helped Waddingham land the role of Rebecca, as Waddingham revealed to Today. "I got David Benioff and Dan Weiss to write an email to the powers that be," she said. "The subject was, 'What are we even discussing here?' It was such a beautiful, quiet, genuine endorsement of, 'Let the girl play.'"

One of the most popular characters from the hit Apple TV+ series “Ted Lasso” will have a lesser role in the upcoming fourth season. Philip Dunster, who plays the talented but self-centered soccer star Jamie Tartt, will no longer be a regular cast member. Entertainment reporter Matthew Belloni revealed Dunster may make some guest appearances but his time on screen will be significantly reduced.
This change comes from scheduling conflicts with other acting jobs Dunster has taken. He is committed to the Prime Video thriller “The Devil’s Hour” where he plays Mike Stevens. Dunster also joined the cast of Apple TV’s drama “Surface” in a season two role. With commitments to both shows, he no longer has availability to be a series regular on “Ted Lasso.”

But apparently, you can't keep a Diamond Dog down for good because there are serious rumblings that the show is about to return for season 4. Now, after more than a year of waiting, it seems like the company's wish is finally going to come true. Here's what we know so far about a possible — scratch that, probable — fourth season of the beloved comedy.

Hear me out! Ted Lasso is and always will be one of my favorite series. The Apple TV+ comedy-drama was a warm hug to all who watched, and such a beautiful escape from the world. It wasn’t all pretty colors and lighthearted comedy, though! Ted Lasso never shied away from hard-hitting topics such as mental health and race issues. But that’s also what fans loved about it so much, the series kept...
