"I want the power to save my family." After a Japanese trailer just showed off more of the horror legend origin story that is Dracula Untold, an extended TV spot has arrived with some new footage as well. Luke Evans takes the title role which paints Dracula as a desperate man who wanted this dark power in order to save his family from tyranny, but ended up being persecuted as a monster when he was only trying to save his people. I'm still not completely sold on this, though I appreciate the efforts to make Dracula's powers more epic. We get to see Dracula's fist of bats attack an army from another angle in this spot too. Watch! Here's the extended TV spot for Gary Shore's Dracula Untold from Universal Pictures: Dracula Untold is directed by newcomer Gary Shore, making his feature debut after a 2005 horror short film titled The Draft.

"I see the devil inside him!" Following the first trailer for the horror action adventure Dracula Untold not too long ago, a new trailer from Japan has surfaced, showing a bit more of the desperate transformation Luke Evans makes in order to save his family and people from a tyrannical ruler. There's a lot of the same beats from the first trailer here, but this time they don't shove the fact that this is Dracula down your throat until the title appears at the end (and it has a different title too). Frankly, I'm still not completely sold on this flick, and I have a hunch that it's not going to do very well at the box office next month. Watch below! Here's the latest UK trailer for Gary Shore's Dracula Untold (found via HeyUGuys): Dracula Untold is directed by newcomer Gary Shore, making his feature debut after...

"Sometimes the world doesn't need another hero... Sometimes what it needs is a monster." Universal has finally unveiled the full official Us trailer for Gary Shore's Dracula Untold, which we first released earlier in the week before it was pulled down by the studio. Luke Evans stars as Vlad the Impaler in this origin story of Dracula, set back in the 1400s following a man who must defend his family. Its been referenced before, but this basically looks like Snow White and the Huntsman meets Underworld, something like that. The VFX are okay, but nothing spectacular, and overall I'm not that impressed. Give it a closer look below. Here's the new Us trailer for Gary Shore's Dracula Untold, in high def from Apple: Dracula Untold is directed by newcomer Gary Shore, making his feature debut after a 2005 horror short film titled The Draft. The story follows real-life historical figure Prince Vlad of Transylvania,...

First up, banners and logo for the Michael Bay-produced and Jonathan Liebesman-directed live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The film stars Megan Fox ("Transfomers") and Megan Fox ("Jennifer's Body"). Next up, a new banner and logo for Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Brett Ratner's Hercules. Just think of it as the Hercules film without the Twilight actor. Lastly, a banner and logo for the upcoming film, Dracula Untold. The film is being directed by Gary Shore ("The Draft") and stars Luke Evans ("The Crow") and Dominic Cooper ("Need For Speed"). It's based on Bram Stoker's Dracula and was previously known as, Dracula and Dracula: Year Zero.

Samantha Barks, the young actress who played Eponine in last year’s Les Miserables, will next sink her teeth into the tragic role of a beautiful woman from Eastern European folklore who becomes a vicious witch known as a ”baba yaga,” in Universal’s upcoming Dracula adaptation.
Barks joins a rapidly growing cast led by Immortals‘ Luke Evans, who will portray the titular Prince of Darkness. Other stars attached include The Devil’s Double‘s Dominic Cooper, A Dangerous Method‘s Sarah Gadon, Icelandic actor Thor Kristjansson, Game of Thrones‘ Art Parkinson, and Boardwalk Empire‘s Charlie Cox. Out of those, only Kristjansson and Parkinson’s roles have been announced – Kristjansson will play an Ottoman assassin named Bright Eyes, while Parkinson will portray Dracula’s young son Ingeras.

By chance, if you are a commercial director you really have the chance to seat in director’s chair for feature film sooner rather than later. Gary Shore (The Draft) is certainly one of these guys. He decided to use his precious experience to work within a limited budget to direct the film, complete with a [...]

Universal Pictures is once again looking to get their supernatural horror film Dracula Year Zero into development. The movie was first announced back in 2008 when Alex Proyas (The Crow) was attached to direct it. Proyas ended up leaving the project due to budget issues and went to focus on his adaptation of Paradise Lost, which was recently cancelled, also because of budget issues. At the time, Sam Worthington was attached to star in the film as Dracula. Proyas is obviously having a rough time getting a movie off the ground these days.
Today Deadline reports that the studio is in negotiations with commercial director Gary Shore to direct the movie. It looks like this would be Shore's first feature film, although he previously directed a short called The Draft. But! Most of you might be familiar with Shore's artistic short called Wolverine Vs. The Hand, which you can watch below.

A couple of years ago we were following a project at Universal called Dracula Year Zero, which had Alex Proyas directing, Sam Worthington starring. It stay in development for a while, even preparing to shoot, but was shut down over budget. Proyas went on to other projects (like Paradise Lost), so did Worthington. But Deadline is now saying Dracula Year Zero is, indeed, back from the dead, but with a new team. Michael De Luca (Moneyball) will still develop as producer, he's got Matt Sazama & Burk Sharpless (Missile Command, Flash Gordon) writing a new draft of the script, with Gary Shore (The Draft) now in negotiations to direct. This seems like an odd project to revive, but Deadline reassures us: "it sure looks like this movie is back on track." Like Frank Miller's "Batman: Year One", Dracula Year Zero retells the origin of the dark vampire lord known as Dracula.

Alex Proyas might want to look into getting some budgeting software or something, because this “over budget” thing is becoming bizarrely familiar. Let’s rehash! Just this week, Proyas’ Paradise Lost adaptation was shut down by Legendary due to a wicked combo of too much funds and too little technology, and now another project that Proyas lost out on because of a bloated budget is back in the news – but for a very different reason. Universal Pictures is apparently bringing Dracula: Year Zero back from the dead, complete with a new director and likely a new cast. Don’t remember this one? Neither did I, so let’s dig back into the Fsr Crypt! Back in 2008, Proyas was set to direct the flick, a supposed “medieval epic” that would serve as origin story for the toothy one. The project languished until 2010, when Sam Worthington of all people was set to star as Dracula himself (Vlad the Impaler...

Just a couple of days ago, we brought you the news about director Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go) taking himself off of 20th Century Fox‘s shortlist of directors for The Wolverine, leaving José Padilha (Elite Squad 2), Doug Liman (Jumper), Antoine Fuqua (Shooter), Justin Lin (Fast Five), Gavin O’Connor (Warrior), James Mangold (Knight and Day), and short film/commercial director Gary Shore (The Draft).
Now, Deadline reports that James Mangold (Knight and Day) has scored the directors chair on the Christopher McQuarrie scripted project, and Fox wants to start principal photography this fall.
The Wolverine is slated to hit theaters in 2012.

Last month, we told you that 20th Century Fox had narrowed their director search for The Wolverine down to eight directors. The directors on their shortlist included José Padilha (Elite Squad 2), Doug Liman (Jumper), Antoine Fuqua (Shooter), Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go), Justin Lin (Fast Five), Gavin O’Connor (Warrior), James Mangold (Knight and Day), and short film/commercial director Gary Shore (The Draft).
After a conversation with DigitalSpy, it seems we can scratch Mark Romanek off of that list. Here’s what Romanek had to say;
“That’s just one of those stories that floated around. I was on their list, I received the script months ago. It didn’t seem like my kind of thing. That script was a terrific version of that kind of thing, but not something I felt really passionate about.”
And now, there are seven… which director would you like to see bring on the Snikt!

Back in April, we told you about director Duncan Jones (Moon, Source Code) intimating that he was interested and even possibly speaking with 20th Century Fox about helming the forthcoming Hugh Jackman film, The Wolverine, taking the place of director Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan) who left the project.
Now, Variety reports that 20th Century Fox has narrowed their director search for The Wolverine down to eight directors, none of which are Duncan Jones. The directors on their shortlist include José Padilha (Elite Squad 2), Doug Liman (Jumper), Antoine Fuqua (Shooter), Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go), Justin Lin (Fast Five), Gavin O’Connor (Warrior), James Mangold (Knight and Day), and short film/commercial director Gary Shore (The Draft).

A couple months ago Darren Aronofsky got up out of the directors chair and walked off 20th Century Fox's The Wolverine. I hated to see Aronofsky go, but the studio is on the hunt for a director to take his place and according to Variety the studio is considering eight candidates, which includes Jose Padilha (Elite Squad), Doug Liman (Jumper), Antoine Fuqua (Training Day), Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go), Justin Lin (Fast Five), Gavin O'Connor (Miracle), James Mangold (3:10 to Yuma) and Gary Shore a first time feature film director. Obviously director David Slade (Hard Candy) is out of the running.
I've got to be honest, I'm not really all that excited about any of these other directors taking on this new Wolverine film. Each of them have there strength's and weaknesses, but I just don't think any of them has what it takes to do it right. But...
