Featured review
Collin Shatner (Dick Powell) pilot during World War 2 who was shot down and managed to parachute to safety in an Italian village. The locals hide him from the Nazi soldiers who come looking for him.
As he is later guided to safety. The Nazis round up the locals and shoot them dead. A woman called Francesca who was escorting Shatner is also taken away.
In revenge Shatner later bombs the village to kill a man called Juliano. He might have betrayed everyone.
The story is told in flashback in 1953 as Shatner meets his commanding officer at a party. There was an enquiry about his actions but there was no conclusive proof that Shatner wanted to commit murder.
Only Shater discovers that Juliano survived. So he returns to the village to kill him but learns more about the betrayal.
There is a lot packed in, some good twists. I did think Shatner's revenge was dumb and a war crime. He would had killed innocent civilians.
