Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2 left fans buzzing with its emotional highs, especially the tragic death of Gwen Stacy (Emma Stone). However, the film also stirred controversy by omitting a pivotal character: Mary Jane Watson (Mj). Mj had been the familiar love interest of Peter Parker/ Spider-Man, something Sony’s Amazon Spider-Man skipped past in the first movie.
However, for the second movie, Shailene Woodley played Parker’s familiar love interest, even though her scenes ended up being cut from the movie. Now, with whispers of The Amazing Spider-Man 3 on the horizon, Woodley’s Mj could be Sony’s best chance to reinvigorate the franchise.

One Shot invites close readings of the basic unit of film grammar.Paprika.More than a decade ago, Satoshi Kon’s premature death left a vacuum in the animation world. Not many directors so intuitively understood how the form could convey cinematic subjectivity, or were as imaginative in their experimentation. He used character designs that were unusually realistic for anime, then found ways to fray that realism. Think of a man vomiting scrawled katakana in Paranoia Agent (2004), or a nighttime chase in which a murderous specter appears to sail across rooftops in Perfect Blue (1997). In Kon’s cinema, the boundaries between reality, dreams, imagination, and memory are in constant flux. The lead character of Kon’s final completed feature, Paprika (2006), is a psychiatrist who treats patients with an experimental device that lets her enter their minds as they sleep; the title refers to the mischievous persona she assumes within that headspace.

The concept of a shared or connected universe has grown to new levels of popularity in the last couple of decades, all thanks to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When it comes to MCU movies, it’s no longer considered epic enough if it revolves around one hero. Fans demand to see cameos, references, and post-credited scenes.

Some video games have also hopped on this trend, with the most high-profile being the Remedy Connected Universe. It was first confirmed with the release of Control‘s Awe Dlc, which delved into the world of Alan Wake. With the second Alan Wake game debuting last year, the Remedy Connected Universe was finally established. However, as long as it can’t integrate Max Payne and Quantum Break, it won’t reach the same heights as MCU.

The PS5 Pro launched earlier this month with promises of enhanced visuals and better performance, backed by Sony’s new Pssr upscaling technology. At $700, this mid-generation upgrade was meant to be the ultimate way to experience both current and upcoming PlayStation titles in their full glory.

However, early adopters are discovering that the reality might not quite match up to those lofty promises. A peculiar “shimmering” effect has been reported across multiple titles, raising concerns about the effectiveness of Sony’s new upscaling technology.
Most concerning of all, these problems aren’t limited to a single game or developer. Even Sony’s crown jewels appear to be struggling with the new hardware, raising questions about whether this premium console is really worth its premium price tag.

Baldur’s Gate 3 was launched in 2023 and went on to become one of the greatest games of all time. The previous year was jam-packed with huge titles like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Diablo 4, Alan Wake 2, Starfield, and many more. But still, the Larian Studios title won the Game of the Year award.

Now, there is a major difference between this RPG title and other great titles in the past. A game gets a huge reception upon its release with huge player counts, but slowly that fades away as time passes by. However, that’s not the case with Baldur’s Gate 3.

The universe of God of War has been intricately woven over the course of many years. There are multiple stories that one can track back from the latest addition, God of War: Ragnarok, where Kratos is seen as a wiser version of himself.
God of War’s lore goes way too deep. Image Credit: Santa Monica Studios
Among the many story arcs, there is one from God of War: Ghost of Sparta that seems a little unnecessary at this point. There is one character from that game who should not have died, as he would have made a great recurring character, adding more depth to the story.

Grant Gustin was the definitive Flash for a generation of DC fans when he starred in the CW’s The Flash. As part of the network’s Arrowverse group of shows, Gustin made his first appearance in Arrow, which served as a backdoor pilot for his own series. The show saw him tackle many antagonists as the fastest man alive.
While Eobard Thawne a.k.a Reverse Flash is Allen’s primary antagonist, season 2 of the series saw the appearance of Zoom, an evil speedster who is a serial killer before gaining abilities. Though physically performed by Teddy Sears, Tony Todd reportedly gave the character his menacing voice.

Iconic actor Tony Todd has died at the age of 69, it has been confirmed. As reported by THR, the Candyman, Platoon, and Star Trek: The Next Generation star, who amassed in excess of 250 professional credits over the course of an astonishing, five decade spanning career, passed away on 6 November at his home in Los Angeles after a long battle with illness.
Anthony Tiran Todd was born in Washington D.C. on 4 December, 1954 to Evetta Lyons Gaither. At the age of just three a young Tony Todd moved to Hartford, Connecticut where his auntie, Clara Elliston, took custody of him and nurtured his adolescent curiosity with the arts. Having enrolled Todd in summer acting courses as a boy, Elliston supported her nephew — artistically, financially, and emotionally — as his interest in theatre led to spells at both Eugene O’Neill National Actors Theatre Institute in Connecticut and Trinity Repertory Company in Rhode Island.

All of us here at Bloody Disgusting are devastated to learn that horror icon Tony Todd, the legendary actor who played the title character in Candyman (1992) and its sequels, passed away on November 6 at his home in Los Angeles. He was 69. Deadline first reported the news.
The prolific actor amassed more than 240 film and TV credits spanning his four decade career. While the actor’s big break came when he was cast in Oliver Stone’s 1986 Vietnam War epic Platoon, he would secure his name in the genre pantheon just a few short years later.
Todd starred in Tom Savini’s 1990 remake of Night of the Living Dead as Ben, the role played by Duane Jones in George A. Romero’s iconic 1968 original. Todd’s warm, commanding performance was one of the primary reasons this remake was so successful and it was a precursor to his turn as Candyman. Despite...

When it was first announced in September, the PlayStation 5 Pro (out Nov. 7) left many people scratching their heads. Modern consumers are no stranger to frequent hardware refreshes throughout the life cycle of the tech they buy — Apple taught people long ago that whatever iPhone model you have will immediately be followed by an “S” or “Pro” upgrade.
Gaming’s no different. Since the Game Boy, players have yearned for incremental updates to the same product: a smaller frame, a color screen, back lighting — all just to play the exact same games.

After Perfect Dark‘s reveal during the 2024 Xbox Game Showcase gamers seemed impressed with its visuals and gameplay.
On PlayStation’s side, Insomniac Games has kept radio silence on Marvel’s Wolverine. It appears that the title has suffered an executive-level setback as its Creative Director has jumped ship and is now helming Perfect Dark.

Emma Stone refused to join Spider-Man: No Way Home? (Photo Credit – Amazon Prime Video)
Emma Stone just dropped the bomb: Spider-Man: No Way Home isn’t bringing back Gwen Stacy. Stone’s got the final word for everyone, hoping for a Spider-Gwen surprise. “I don’t know if I’m supposed to say anything, but I’m not [in the movie],” she alluded to MTV News. And with that, another rumor bites the dust.
No Way Home has been a whirlwind of fan theories, with fans expecting every Spidey face possible—Tobey, Andrew, villains, and maybe even Aunt May’s pet dog. Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock from Spider-Man 2? He’s in. But Gwen Stacy? Nope. Stone said her goodbyes to The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, calling it an “exceptional experience” that she’ll always feel “protective” of. And yes, we still think about the rooftop chemistry between her and Andrew Garfield.

Those are the words of director Brad Bird discussing his 2004 smash hit "The Incredibles" with Michael Barrier. "I'd be astonished if anyone could come up with any truly original powers that were at all interesting any more," the filmmaker added.
Somewhat ironically, 2004 was also when superhero cinema reached a turning point thanks to "Spider-Man 2" making a whopping $784 million worldwide, building off the back of Sam Raimi's first hit "Spider-Man" in film 2002, which was building itself off of hits like "X-Men" and "Blade." Was Mary Jane Watson almost removed from The Amazing Spider-Man 2? (Photo Credit – Netflix)
Mary Jane Watson was ready to strut her stuff in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. But she didn’t. Instead, she disappeared. Shailene Woodley wanted to bring that fiery redhead to life, but the final cut didn’t have her.
Now, let’s take a trip down memory lane. Mj first crashed the Marvel Comics party back in 1965—and nope, she wasn’t just another pretty face. She gave Gwen Stacy a severe run for her money! After Gwen’s exit, courtesy of the Green Goblin, Mj swooped in, ready to make sparks fly. Kirsten Dunst nailed it as Mj in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy, while Zoë Kravitz brought her voice to life in Into the Spider-Verse.
When filming started for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in early 2013, everyone was splitting up about Woodley stepping into the redhead’s shoes.

Insomniac Games has made a name for itself after developing a handful of unique video games like Ratchet and Clank and perfectly adapting one of the most popular superheroes into a much more interactive format. Unfortunately, greatness comes at a cost, and the studio suffered major leaks a few months ago.
After the success of the Spider-Man games, the gaming community is waiting for the developers to expand the original shared universe by introducing other heroes like Wolverine. Leaked gameplay footage was shared and the developers tried to shake it off; however, enough time has passed and it is high time for new content.

The bungling of Trick ‘r Treat by Warner Bros. — shelving it after well-received festival screenings before unceremoniously dumping it straight to DVD in 2009 — is well-documented, but had it received a traditional theatrical release and underperformed, there’s a chance it may have never entered the cultural zeitgeist. Instead, its authentic cult roots allowed it to blossom into the contemporary classic we celebrate today.
Trick ‘r Treat stands alongside the opening credits of Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers as a felicitous distillation of the Halloween atmosphere on celluloid. Sam, the impish demon played by 7-year-old Quinn Lord that serves as the film’s mascot, personifies the tricks and treats of Halloween while serving as the connective tissue between segments.

Ghost of Yotei was announced during the most recent PlayStation State of Play, and it lit a spark within the gaming community after seeing another high-profile first-party title in development. The release window is not that far off; however, this project has the opportunity to break the curse of lacklustre sequels, or it may fall into the same pit of mediocrity.
There is no denying that Sony Interactive Entertainment has established that its first-party games feature the best the industry has in store after years of consistent releases. Unfortunately, the game developers might have bitten more than they could chew.

Oh what a tangled web we weave when the multiverse becomes part of Spider-Man canon. The Spider-Man film franchise started simply enough, with 2002’s “Spider-Man.” Fast forward 20 years and three different actors have played live-action versions of the Wall Crawler, with the trio joining forces in 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”
The most recent Spidey flick wasn’t just a fun family reunion. It also led to Marvel verifying the existence of the multiverse in its live-action productions. As the former Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Strange says in the film, “The multiverse is a concept about which we know frighteningly little.”
While the establishment of the multiverse has a still yet-to-be-determined impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, in the present it can make watching Spider-Man movies in order a little complicated.
Thankfully, there are a myriad of ways to enjoy your friendly neighborhood Spider-Men. Below is a list of the Web...

In the fast-paced world of video game development, it’s easy to forget that the classics we hold dear might not have seen the light of day in today’s market. Case in point: Uncharted, the beloved action-adventure series that put Naughty Dog on the map.
But according to Amy Hennig, the mastermind behind the franchise, pitching a game like Uncharted today would be a tough sell.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure has spawned tons of meme materials and iconic poses over the years. As wacky as the series’ plot is, it is followed by an even wackier art style. Over the years, many mangakas have paid their respects to the iconic series and finally, it was Marvel who did the same.

The Venom trilogy, which began in 2018 when it launched Sony’s Spider-Man universe, has come to a close. The series of films focused on Spider-Man villains and characters have largely been derided by fans (you can see our ranking of the Sony Spider-Man Universe here), but the Venom movies have been mostly well-regarded. Bringing the symbiotic villain to the big screen without Spider-Man, his archnemesis, was a strange choice, and one that hasn’t been entirely successful.
Still, the flawed trilogy has remained a bit of fun and the only highlight of the atrocious Sony Spider-Verse. The two previous entries utilized post-credit scenes to hint at upcoming events, including the introduction of Woody Harrelson’s Carnage and Venom’s brief, yet memorable, foray into the MCU. With this allegedly being the final installment in the trilogy, is there a post-credit scene? Yes. In fact, it has two.

Starfield was one of the biggest video games in 2023. Amidst the crowd of Diablo 4, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, Baldur’s Gate 3, and many more, the Bethesda title stood firm. However, this space exploration title never went on to fulfill the expectations and hype it created in its long development period.

After Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 debuted for PlayStation 5 in October 2023, gamers were almost immediately wondering about the potential story DLCs. After all, Spider-Man (2018) was blessed with an expansion just one month after its release, yet neither Sony nor developer Insomniac Games gave the word on Spider-Man 2‘s story Dlc.

However, everything changed with the dreadful Insomniac data breach in December 2023, with a leak revealing at least three more expansions for the game that would’ve explored unfinished plotlines. Unfortunately, Insomniac has confirmed that it’s not bringing any additional expansions for the Spider-Man sequel. While that’s disappointing, it could be a game-changer for the upcoming Venom game.

Man, Nintendo has had quite the year, didn’t it? It’s been suing left and right to protect its IPs, the target of one of this year’s biggest hacks, and having its first-party titles leak every single time.

Perhaps as a result of recent events and the increased legal scrutiny that followed before and after, it seems best to steer clear of any leaked Nintendo content—especially the recent Playtest leaks that got datamined—unless they want to spend the rest of the year dodging the company’s legal hitmen.

Insomniac Games have also confirmed there won’t be any story add-ons for Spider-Man 2. That is why what is left off will be picked up by Peter in Spider-Man 3. And to make a fitting end to this trilogy, Insomniac Games should consider an obscure antagonist for the next game.
