This one starts as a straightforward if-he'd-kept-his-pants-on-he-wouldn't-have-gotten-framed type melodrama, but (as with Bob Peck's other great TV role in Edge of Darkness) things start to get more interesting as a chilling conspiracy is revealed.
The "natural lies" referred to here are the ones allegedly told by food megacorporations to sell their highly processed pap as "natural" and "wholesome". At the time of its release in 1992 (the infamous McLibel case had just begun) this caused a fair amount of controversy, most notably for its suggestion that BSE ("mad cow disease") might spread to humans, and that the food industry would try and cover things up. Of course, this was widely dismissed as nonsense! Well, hindsight is a wonderful thing and since "new-variant CJD" is now a fact of life, it's worth checking this out - it may well make a vegetarian out of you!
Other highlights include Bob getting some rather tasty beef on the bone (so to speak) in part 1, and two hitmen making him (literally) dig his own grave! Alas, that's where he is now, but along with EOD this makes a magnificent epitaph
