Recommendations from prominent manga creators like Tite Kubo, the creator of Bleach, and Hiromu Arakawa, the creator of Fullmetal Alchemist, always go a long way. As these creators have the most amount of experience in the manga industry, they choose the best kind of projects to recommend to the fandom, giving them more insight and knowledge of the ever-growing world.

While the manga creators mostly have different tastes, both Kubo and Arakawa agreed on one prominent manga and were eager to recommend it to their fans. This manga is called Cosmos and is written by Ryūhei Tamura, who is majorly known in the manga industry for Beelzebub, a popular shonen manga that came out in 2009. It also got an Ova adaptation that came out in 2010.
Tamura started Cosmos last year, and within a single year, he got the endorsement from two of the greatest mangakas of all time.

The Sailor Moon manga series began in the early 1990s from the creative genius of Naoko Takeuchi. Over the years, it grew into a worldwide phenomenon spanning anime, movies, and musicals. Now, nearly 30 years later, the Cosmos movies bring Usagi Tsukino’s epic tale to its conclusion.
For those unfamiliar, Sailor Moon follows a group of magical girls tasked with protecting Earth from evil forces. Usagi heads the team as the pretty guardian Sailor Moon. Across numerous story arcs, they’ve battled threats lurking in the shadows of their high school lives.
The Cosmos movies cover the final story section from the original manga, known as the “Stars” arc. In it, Usagi and friends enter their first year of high school. But dark times are ahead as a new foe appears, the powerful Sailor Galaxia. She aims to collect mystical items called Sailor Crystals, possessing untold power. Even more shocking,...

This Sailor Moon Cosmos The Movie review contains no spoilers.
Ten years after the premiere of Sailor Moon Crystal and three years after Netflix’s release of the Sailor Moon Eternal duology of films, a second duology—Sailor Moon Cosmos—faithfully adapts the fifth and final arc of Naoko Takeuchi’s iconic manga, bringing a definitive and satisfying close to the Crystalverse experiment.
The story of Sailor Moon Cosmos revolves around the revelation that there are Sailor Guardians not just for the planets of our solar system but all planets throughout the galaxy. Sailor Galaxia, a narcissistic nihilist bent on attaining godhood to destroy and remake the universe in her image, is capping off her campaign of galactic destruction by coming to Earth to harvest the Sailor Crystals, the last great MacGuffin required to realize her goal. This coincides with the arrival of The Three Lights, the hot new boy...

Masashi Kishimoto created one of the greatest anime franchises ever. Even though it ended in 2017, Naruto remains one of the most popular anime, with its fan base growing every day. The fans were not ready to part away with the franchise, so Shueisha asked Kishimoto sensei about a sequel. The mangaka did not object to the idea but put up one condition.
The condition was absolute, otherwise he would not be interested in the sequel. Kishimoto asked to hand over the sequel to his assistant. They knew each other for years, and the mangaka put his faith in him. After that, Mikio Ikemoto became the creator of Boruto.

"Don't we want to live in a world that respects the nature of each dog – his singularity?" The Jokers in France has revealed an offiical trailer for a loud and wild comedy called Dog on Trial, marking the feature directorial debut of Swiss-French actress Laetitia Dosch. This initially premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival earlier this year out of competition, though it earned some good buzz and great reviews already (here's mine). Still waiting for this to get a US release date (probably in early 2025 at this point) but happy to start the buzz early anyway - especially for dog lovers. Set in Switzerland, and inspired by a true story, the film is about Avril, a young lawyer specializing in animal defense. She goes a bit overboard to try and save her client, a repeat-offender dog, from capital punishment in Switzerland, in a trial about the dog biting a woman.

Kodi, the canine defendant in Laetitia Dosch’s Dog on Trial, was named top dog at the Cannes Film Festival, snatching the Palm Dog prize for the best canine performance.
In a rare treat, Kodi, a 9-year-old Griffon, attended the event, a boozy and chaotic affair, as is the Palm Dog tradition, at the Plage du Festival in Cannes on Friday. He even gave a demonstration of his howling performance from the film, something the director said he had to be trained to do, not being a natural howler in real life.
In Dog on Trial, Kodi plays Cosmos, the four-legged companion of a visually impaired man (François Damiens) who, after a biting incident, finds himself at the center of an absurd trial to decide whether he will be put down. Avril (Laetitia Dosch), a lawyer accustomed to lost causes, decides to represent Cosmos.

Masashi Kishimoto created one of the greatest pieces of fiction to ever exist. Naruto reached its peak of popularity, and even after ending in 2017, it remains one of the most popular anime ever. It is considered one of the Big Three of anime, along with One Piece and Bleach. Naruto Uzumaki’s journey from being an outcast to the Hokage is an inspirational story.
The fans were happy to see their favourite hero getting the recognition he deserved, but they were also sad since it was all coming to an end. They wanted a sequel, and Masashi Kishimoto was against that idea. He created an empire with his magnum opus, and there was nothing left to do. Even though he was against the idea of a sequel, he put forward a condition that was to be fulfilled for a sequel to happen.

Amber Rose recently interviewed astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson on her podcast and triggered a hilarious response from the scientist with a pseudoscience question. Rose chose to ask one astrology question to Tyson of all people, who literally lost it at the mention of it. While the scientific community backed Tyson in his funny outburst, the astrology supporters in the comments were pretty disappointed in him.
Neil deGrasse Tyson in a conversation with Bill Moyers on the latter’s show
Amber Rose asked Tyson whether he believed in concepts like Mercury in retrograde, which the astrologers believe influences the moods of people. Tyson was quick to dismiss it, even drawing an analogy that would perfectly explain the pseudoscience behind it.

Game of Thrones ended, and David Benioff and Dan Weiss had to figure out what to do next.
The writer-producers had made the biggest TV hit of the 21st century, and the most Emmy-winning drama of all time — and it was their very first show. HBO’s Thrones had a spectacular eight-season run, a global phenomenon that was reputationally marred by a 2019 final season that fans loudly considered disappointing. In the online space, at least, Benioff and Weiss’ obsessive, day-and-night efforts to pull off a production that was unprecedented in its difficulty were shrugged aside. Psychologists call this the “peak-end rule” — how people feel about the end of something tends to color how they feel about all of it. And many fans felt raw about the end of Thrones.
After the finale, Benioff and Weiss, who never participated in social media and only reluctantly gave interviews, even when Thrones’ was at its pinnacle,...

In the smash hit “Barbie,” Margot Robbie leaves her pink plastic town of Barbie Land to travel to the real world. But can fans of the movie travel to Barbie Land? Kind of.
“Cosmos” host Neil deGrasse Tyson analyzed the position of the sun and moon in the Greta Gerwig film, and the presence of palm trees, and concluded that the fictional town must be “somewhere in the Florida Keys.”

Sex and the City put the Cosmopolitan on the map. The pink cocktail was the signature drink of Carrie Bradshaw, Samantha Jones, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York. Carrie even famously tried to order a Cosmo at a drive-up burger joint in Hoohokus in season 4 of the series. The strike remains a hot-button conversation, but the topic has changed. The writers are a given and the directors made a deal; today, it’s all about the actors.
The Screen Actors Guild (SAG-AFTRA) begins contract negotiations June 7; its contract expires June 30. If SAG-AFTRA joined the writers on strike, it would mean a near-total shutdown of the industry.
SAG took the rare step of calling for a strike authorization vote and goes into the talks with of 97.91 percent of its members willing to go on strike if a fair deal isn’t reached.
“We’re really at an inflection point in the industry,” SAG-AFTRA chief negotiator Duncan Crabtree-Ireland told IndieWire. “There are some issues that are really time sensitive and of crucial importance perhaps in ways that aren’t always the case. It’s an important moment for the labor movement in the entertainment industry and in the broader economy in this country.

Carl Sagan, for those who may not know, was an astronomer and charismatic cosmologist who came into the public eye in 1980 with the broadcast of his PBS series "Cosmos: A Personal Voyage." That show, in addition to Sagan's many novels, books, and lectures, helped popularize astral science, bringing casual conversations about space to new heights.
Sagan's popularity is understandable. He was affable and well-spoken, and he talked about fun scientific concepts like the existence of UFOs, and the actual, mathematical odds that an alien civilization might someday visit Earth; given the size of the universe, Sagan calculated that there are at least a million Earth-like civilizations out there somewhere. The film "Contact" is based on his novel. Sagan was also a major advocate for marijuana use, and was rather spiritual, despite often speaking out against religion or the existence of an intelligent God. He was a fascinating dude.

After both playing key roles in TV miniseries Under The Banner Of Heaven, Andrew Garfield and Daisy Edgar-Jones are joining a new film that should see them sharing the screen a whole lot more. They're on for Sebastián Lelio's new film, Voyagers.
Neither a remake of the 2021 teen sci-fi movie nor an adaptation of the obscure, short-lived time-travelling TV series, this Voyagers will instead focus on the love that bloomed between astronomer/writer/presenter Carl Sagan and documentary producer/director Ann Druyan.

The Voyagers story takes place in 1977 at NASA, where Sagan’s team is preparing to launch humanity’s first interstellar probes. Vangelis, whose instantly recognizable musical theme for 1981’s Chariots of Fire won an Oscar and became a sort of aural shorthand for tales of endurance and triumph, died May 17, according to his representatives. He was 79.
His assistant Lefteris Zermas has confirmed the death but did not provide a specific cause, saying only that Vangelis died in a hospital in France. Greek newspaper Ot is reporting that Vangelis was being treated for Covid-19.
Born Evangelos Odessey Papathanassiou in Greece, the composer and musician known worldwide simply as Vangelis, combined orchestral music, electronic synth sounds, jazz and ambient to create a then-new sound for the film that seemed to provide the musical equivalent of the ocean waves that crashed as the story’s Olympic runners sprinted down the beach. (Watch the video below.)
Vangelis would go on to compose scores for Blade Runner (1982), Missing (1982), Antarctica (1983), The Bounty (1984), 1492: Conquest of Paradise (1992) and...

Robert Blalack, a towering figure in the world of visual effects, died on Wednesday. His wife Caroline Charron-Blalack confirmed the news to Deadline. He was 73.
Blalack said he specialized in “solving the Visual Effects requirements of ‘can’t be done’ Motion Picture productions.” He proved the truth of that statement on his second film project, a 1977 space opera by the name of Star Wars.
At the age of 29, he designed and supervised the Star Wars VistaVision Composite Optical production pipeline, which allowed all the groundbreaking 365 VistaVision VFX shots in Star Wars. Much of what he created for the film was built on a (relative) shoestring. With a VFX budget of just $1.6 million for the film, Blalack made use of obsolete VistaVision optical composite equipment from Hollywood’s Golden Years that could be had for a song.

Video Version of this Article Photo/Video: Carl Sagan/Hollywood Insider YouTube Channel A lyrical wordsmith and a person who was able to make even the most difficult scientific notions easily digestible, Carl Sagan was a one of a kind, and a great influence on science and entertainment. No one else has been able to master the crossroad between art and science so wonderfully balanced with educational benefits within an alluring, nurturing, aesthetically pleasing entertainment package. From his countless books that weave between literature and educational science books, and his hit TV show, ‘Cosmos: A Personal Voyage’, that’s actively being made with updated information starring Neil Degrasse Tyson, and now titled ‘Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey’, Carl Sagan brought the most complex scientific notions into the mainstream by condensing them into fitting layman's terms, a skillset that hadn’t been seen before by the general public until him. National Geographic is back in the hunt for Emmy Awards after dominating last year’s ceremony with seven wins for “Free Solo.” Now this go-to cable network for science nerds is hoping “Cosmos: Creating Possible Worlds,” its online offshoot of documentary series “Cosmos: Possible Worlds,” can find success in Best Short Form Nonfiction Or Reality Series at the 2020 Emmys.
The main program is hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson and is a sequel to Nat Geo’s “Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey,” which went home with four Emmys in 2014: Music Composition, Main Title Theme Music, Nonfiction Writing and Nonfiction Sound Editing. That itself was a re-imagining of Carl Sagan‘s iconic PBS series “Cosmos: A Personal Voyage” (1980), one of the most-watched science programs in television history.

Neil DeGrasse Tyson’s show “StarTalk” hasn’t aired a new episode since November of last year. That hiatus might continue for the foreseeable future as the host continues to be under investigation for allegations made against him in late November, originally published on Patheos.

National Geographic Channel has pulled its long-running Neil deGrasse Tyson chat show “StarTalk” off the air, at least for now, following allegations of sexual misconduct against the famed astrophysicist. “StarTalk” will remain on hiatus as a Fox Networks Group investigation into the multiple claims continues.

The website Patheos reported that two women had accused Tyson of inappropriate behavior: Bucknell University’s Dr. Katelyn N. Exclusive: Famous astrophysicist/TV personality Neil deGrasse Tyson has come under scrutiny as two more women have accused the Cosmos host of sexual misconduct. In light of the new allegations, the networks and producers behind the Emmy-winning Cosmos reboot are vowing to look into the matter.

The Television Academy announced Monday that Fox will air the 71st Annual Primetime Emmy Awards on Sunday, Sept. 22, airing live coast to coast. Emmys kick off the fall TV season, and the show’s host(s) often set the tone for broadcast TV’s premiere week. And with that, let the hosting speculation begin.
With awards shows’ ratings in steady decline, the host is a key driver. It’s a tall order: Recognizable and trusted are essential. Internal talent preferred, but must have the skills to keep energy fun and high. A sitcom star with standup roots, like Tk? Song-and-dance experience, like Neil Patrick Harris? When all else fails, there’s the talk-show hosts: Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel and Stephen Colbert may be less flashy, but they’re reliable.
And then there’s the timing. Networks like to showcase a newer talk-show host, or the star of a...

I’ve got a trailer here for a solid looking indie sci-fi film called Cosmos. This movie comes from directing brothers Elliot Weaver and Zander Weaver and they made it over the course of five year with no budget.
I’m inspired by passionate filmmakers like this, who actually went out and made a movie and didn’t let any of the limitations and struggles stop them. These are the same filmmakers of the short film The Mysterious Disappearance of M.M. Bayliss that we shared years ago.
The film was inspired the the Amblin-era adventures, and the story takes place over the course of one night against the backdrop of a World changing discovery. Cosmos is said to offer “spectacle and thrills but reminds us success is nothing without people to share it with.”
Here’s the synopsis:
Three amateur astronomers accidentally intercept what they believe is a signal from an alien civilisation.
