A young man hires a beautiful young nurse to live with and care for the man's elderly, wheelchair-bound grandfather. The nurse's "charm" hides a sadist who couldn't care less about her patient's welfare. The young man soon finds out that his grandfather is being shamefully neglected. One night, the nurse is found murdered, a hypodermic needle slammed into the base of her brain. It's clear that she was killed during an argument, and the grandson is the prime suspect. When the grandson asks Petrocelli to quiz his grandfather, Petrocelli learns that the grandfather died that same night of one of his numerous illnesses. When the case goes to trial, damning testimony is provided by an old rancher friend of the grandfather's who visited the house just after the murder and found both bodies. Petrocelli's only chance is to poke a hole in the testimony, based on a sixteen-minute gap where the rancher says he was reminiscing over his old friend -- or was he covering up evidence?
