Damian Lewis has taken home the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama Series.
Beating out Steve Buscemi, Bryan Cranston, Jeff Daniels and Jon Hamm, Lewis took home the award for his portrayal of Nicholas Brody on Showtime's "Homeland." This is his first Golden Globe.
Kelsey Grammer took home the award last year for his portrayal of Mayor Tom Kane in "Boss," marking one of the biggest surprises of the night. "Boss" was canceled in November.
The 2013 Golden Globe Awards, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, are being held in Beverly Hills.

New York -- It seems you just can't watch TV without confronting politics.
And that's not just the glut of campaign coverage, now reaching its feverish climax.
No, the high drama of this political season has been echoed by episodic TV this season. If candidates in real life are often criticized for playing roles and relying on scripts, these TV shows' pretend politicos make no bones about it.
This isn't anything new. Years ago, viewers celebrated the presidency of Jed Bartlet on "The West Wing." Fans of "The Wire" savored the ascent of Tommy Carcetti from the Baltimore city council to the Maryland governor's office. Michael J. Fox, and then Charlie Sheen, worked for New York Mayor Winston on the sitcom, "Spin City."
And don't forget HBO's hapless Vice President Selina Meyer. Played by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, she'll be back with the comedy "Veep" next year.
But who's in office right now?...

★★☆☆☆ British filmmaker Robert Heath returns to screens with Truth or Dare (2012), a low-budget horror that attempts to put a generic spin on the well-known party game of the same name. The film follows five university friends - Paul (Liam Boyle), Chris (Jack Gordon), Luke (Alexander Vlahos), Eleanor (Jennie Jacques) and Gemma (Florence Hall) - as they celebrate the end of term with a drug-fuelled party. Their antics, however, come at the expense and total humiliation of fellow student Felix (Tom Kane), who's always been somewhat of an outsider.

The premise of Truth or Dare almost seems like a bad joke, the kind of idea for a movie that only shows up in fiction when mocking lame-brained movie plots. There have been a thousand jokes about innocent games, objects, or animals twisted to sinister ends, but this movie actually goes ahead and makes that its main idea. This is, indeed, about a murderous game of truth or dare. And it is supposed to be taken seriously!
Let.s back up and explain a bit. Truth or Dare follows a group of college-age British kids as they go to a party being held at a remote mansion. The party is in celebration of the birthday of Felix (Tom Kane), an outcast whom some of them had humiliated at a different party several months earlier. One would think this should be a giant red flag, but they answer...

Truth Of Dare
Stars: Liam Boyle, Jack Gordon, Florence Hall, Nicky Henson, Jennie Jacques, Jason Maza, Tom Kane, David Oakes | Written by Matthew McGuchan | Directed by Robert Heath
I find with British horror, especially films with smaller budgets there is a tendency to stick to the mainstream idea of what is popular. Set up an injustice at in the first few minutes of the film then have a character come back for revenge. Its cliché, it’s over used and to be quite honest it’s boring. The ironic thing is though there is always a hidden gem that manages to shine through, down to some clever writing and actor choices. This is what you get with Truth or Dare.

*here be minor spoilers. Director: Robert Heath. Writer: Matthew McGuchan. Cast: Liam Boyle, Jack Gordon, Florence Hall, Nicky Henson, Jennie Jacques, Tom Kane, Jason Maza, and David Oakes. Truth or Dare is a revenge thriller created by director Robert Heath. Heath recently completed another dramatic thriller titled Sus in 2010. Heath has cast a wide range of actors for his latest. Arguably, Jennie Jacques (Shank) and television actor David Oakes have the most acting experience. Eleanour (Jacques) and Justin (Oakes) are also coincidentally the two main villains in this picture with Felix (Tom Kane) acting as a quiet and shy protagonist. Truth or Dare transitions from a revenge thriller into a gory horror picture thanks to a few twists along the way. And, this film is an enjoyable watch despite a few awkward scenes. The film's story is set up much like a trap in the first act. Justin invites several...

In reality, the party game Truth or Dare often results in teenage girls and boys wincing as they must all kiss one another for five seconds on the lips, before jokingly spitting out the germs soon after. Such a pattern is generally repeated until someone in the group either passes out, or goes in with tongues. However in Robert Heath’s psychological horror Truth or Dare, the game is taken to another level, as the harmless party event soon becomes a matter of life or death.
We follow a close group of friends at University, who spend much of their time going out partying, getting drunk and enjoying themselves. However on the outskirts of the group is the dejected loner Felix (Tom Kane), who is beaten up at a house party by Chris (Jack Gordon) having made an advance on his girlfriend Gemma (Florence Hall) during a game of truth or dare.

In the one of the first major surprises of the night, Kelsey Grammer took home the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his role in Starz's "Boss."
Grammer stars in the political drama as Tom Kane, the ruthless mayor of Chicago. Grammer beat out Steve Buscemi, for “Boardwalk Empire,” Bryan Cranston for his work in “Breaking Bad," Jeremy Irons for Showtime's “The Borgias” and Damian Lewis for “Homeland.”
"Boss", which was renewed for a Season 2 before Season 1 even premiered, wrapped its first season to an audience of about 500,000 viewers. "Boss" was also nominated for Best Drama series but lost to Showtime's critically-acclaimed "Homeland."

In the one of the biggest surprises of the night, Kelsey Grammer took home the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his role in Starz's "Boss," beating out last year's winner and 2012 frontrunner Steve Buscemi. For a show with a small audience and often mediocre reviews, very few people expected Grammer's name to be inside that envelope.

Screenterrier posted the casting call for indie pyschological film Truth Or Dare, back in November 2010. With the film now in post-production, a full synopsis and first image have now emerged.
Five teenage friends are taken hostage by a vengeful psychopath and forced to play a party game with life-or-death consequences.
An end-of-year party for an 'alpha' group of first year university students turns nasty when a game of 'truth or dare' ends in humiliation for ultra-rich social misfit Felix. For five students at the gathering, this unpleasant but seemingly minor incident will have unexpectedly devastating repercussions.
Some months later, the friends meet again en route to a surprise party for Felix, who has been away traveling. Arriving at the venue - an old hunting lodge - they are met by Justin, Felix's charismatic older brother, who explains that Felix will be late for the party. He persuades the gang to...

This is the review of Cherry Tree Lane, which is screening at Edinburgh International Film Festival. The film stars Rachael Blake, Tom Butcher, Jumayn Hunter, Ashley Chin, Sonny Muslim, Jennie Jacques, Corinne Douglas, Kieran Dooner and Tom Kane, and is directed by Paul Andrew Williams. A couple argue over dinner, she slept with someone else a long time ago and he hasn’t gotten over it. None of this exposition matters as it’s just there to pass the time and never developed. The doorbell rings and a gang of three teenagers force their way into the family home, tying the couple up and then sitting down on the sofas to wait for the couple’s son to come home as they are seeking revenge, claiming the son is a snitch.

Cherry Tree Lane
Stars: Rachael Blake, Tom Butcher, Sonny Muslim, Ashley Chin, Jumayn Hunter, Kieran Dooner, Tom Kane, Jennie Jacques, Corinne Douglas | Written and Directed by Paul Andrew Williams
Cherry Tree Lane, the latest offering from director Paul Andrew Williams, is an urban horror story in which on a seemingly normal day of the week, a normal family on a normal street in London is targeted by a group of youths and subjected to 1 hour 20 minutes of brutality. One word that had become synonymous with early buzz around the movie was ‘intense’. How very true this is, was soon apparent.
Having only recently seen Paul Andrew Williams’ last (and first) feature, London to Brighton, very recently, I was suitably impressed by his style, tone, pace and the way in which he presented gritty subject matter. I had high hopes going in to see the movie and my anticipation was quickly rewarded.

Paul Andrew Williams’ third feature delivers a film loaded with tension, horror and suspense. Shot in two weeks and written in one, you’d expect on such a time scale for a film to be dirt poor, and not a tightly-wound thriller. It plays on different levels and lingers in the mind long after.
Rather than portray the terrorising teenage tearaways as one dimensional ‘yoofs’ Williams draws them out into distinct, albeit volatile, figures. Sure they’re not that bright, in fact they’re quite stupid, but lethal and human all the same. The level of dialogue and usage of ‘street’ language lends the film an air of great realism.
Cherry Tree Lane plays out close to real time, often feels like a stage play in scope, and is heightened by its very predictability. A middle class couple played by Tom Butcher and Rachael Blake sit down for dinner and...
