Lamb of God return from a five-year hiatus with “Checkmate,” the first single from the metal group’s upcoming self-titled album.
“‘Checkmate’ brings together all the components of the Lamb of God sound that we’ve been developing over the last two decades, but with the ambition and ferocity that comes with the start of a new chapter for our band,” guitarist Mark Morton said in a statement. “Re-energized and reignited, this is Lamb of God 2020. We’ve never been more excited.”

Lamb Of God is one of the most respected, influential and successful bands in modern metal. They’ve built up a following over the course of their career due to their abrasive, uncompromising yet technical sound and their renowned live shows which have become revered and admired both because of the band’s ability to create a great atmosphere and also because they (arguably) sound even better live than on studio recordings. Their gigs are also some of the most hectic and in-your-face you’ll go to – I should know as I lost both my trainers in the pit in one of their London headlining gigs and had to endure the rest of their set with people parading over my feet. But it was worth it. Even though I’d been a Lamb Of God fan for years, that was my first time seeing them live...

Lamb Of God has unleashed a full-album preview of their new set entitled Wrath. The stream is available through the band's MySpace page, where it will remain until the album's formal release a week from today, in both standard and deluxe editions.
The band will release their fifth studio album Wrath, on February 24th, 2009. The record will be released in North America by Epic and will be the first release with their new label Roadrunner, outside of North America. Wrath is produced by Josh Wilbur and was recorded in studios in New York, Virginia, and New Hampshire.
Lamb Of God finished the touring cycle on the Grammy nominated album Sacrament at the end of 2007. The two-year trek was documented in the now certified Gold DVD Walk with Me in Hell and culminated with the band headlining arenas across the Us last December.

I now present you with a challenge – see if you can watch all 1 minute and 3 seconds of the trailer for the direct-to-disc flick Ace Ventura Jr. without looking away. It’s harder than you think. If the title hasn’t already given it away, the movie centers on the son of Ace, who has to clear his mother’s name after she is wrongly arrested for stealing a baby panda. The quick cash-in to the Jim Carrey comedies is set to arrive March 3, 2009 and will come with six behind the scenes featurettes, extended scenes, and a gag reel. The flick stars Josh Flitter, Emma Lockhart, Austin Rogers, Chris Adler, Robie Alan and Reed Alexander.
