The mining village of Nottinghamshire came back to our screens in highly anticipated fashion. Fans had eagerly followed the gripping drama of Sherwood’s first season, which delved deeply into the community’s past and present. The show’s moving portrayal of ordinary lives shaped by momentous times won widespread praise. Viewers felt they’d gained profound insight into the place and people.
So the pressure was high for season two to honor what came before while carving out new ground. New faces and conflicts were introduced, yet the routines and rivalries of village life remained familiar touchstones. The reopening of old wounds by proposed changes stirred old resentments. A new murder ignited a conflict that dragged more residents into its chaotic wake.
Through it all, acclaimed actors like David Morrissey and Lesley Manville maintained their magnetic presence. But attention was also grasped by standout turns from the cast, like Monica Dolan and Oliver Huntingdon.

Based on what little we've seen from Creature Commandos, Superman, and Peacemaker season 2, James Gunn is wasting no time in expanding the Dcu and creating a world inhabited by superheroes.
A DC fan recently took to social media to share some deep-cut Easter Eggs they hope to see in the Dcu; one of them was Martian Manhunter's obsession with Chocos, DC's take on Oreos.
That prompted Gunn to respond with a real-life version of Chocos, leading to speculation on social media that J'onn J'onzz will soon make his Dcu debut. However, as the filmmaker is currently busy shooting an episode of Peacemaker, we'd bet on these being a prop from that series.
In other words, it might be best not to get too excited. However, that Max series does feel like a fitting place to introduce Martian Manhunter as Detective John Jones! It's worth noting that Chocos were also spotted...

On August 19, Deadline announced that Disney has decided not to renew The Acolyte for a second season. This makes it the first Star Wars show to be officially canceled, rather than labeled as a limited series or put on indefinite hold — and in light of that, it’s difficult not to wonder where the iconic galaxy far, far away is going next. Here’s what we’re pondering, days after The Acolyte’s official ending. Lucasfilm Ltd. Unanswered Questions Any cancellation usually leaves lingering questions, and The Acolyte’s is no different. While showrunner Leslye Headland mentioned in several interviews that the first season could stand as a complete story, the writers clearly had aspirations for a second, from the finale appearance of an excellent David Harewood as a senator suspicious...

The Acolyte Finale: Five Juicy Easter Eggs You Might Have Missed - Main Image
The Acolyte finale features numerous surprising turns of events, several Easter eggs, and significant references to the broader Star Wars canon.
The show has finally unraveled the mystery surrounding twin sisters Mae and Osha, though it still leaves a few unanswered questions that may be resolved if it’s renewed for a second season.
[Warning: Major spoilers ahead.]
The final episode of The Acolyte shows the rematch between Master Sol and Qimir.
Although Qimir’s desire to kill all four Jedi stationed on Brendok when Mother Aniseya and her coven of witches died is fulfilled with the death of Sol, it’s surprisingly carried out by Osha instead of Mae, completing the former’s turn to the dark side when the blue kyber crystal of Sol’s lightsaber turns red when she holds it.
The finale also features the touching reunion between Osha and Mae.

This article contains spoilers for The Acolyte season 1 finale.
After eight short episodes, The Acolyte has come to an end. The Disney+ series upped the ante with an action-packed finale that tied off most of the show’s loose ends and neatly set things up for a potential season 2. With The Acolyte being billed as Star Wars’ first Sith-centric live-action outing, the series was always going to explore the darker side of the Force and how the Jedi aren’t the white knights they’re sometimes portrayed as.
While Amandla Stenberg was the show’s Mvp in dual roles as the Force-sensitive Mae and Osha, The Acolyte ended up being a much bigger story that encompassed the Jedi trying to hold onto their power at the end of the High Republic era. Boasting a sneaky Sith cameo, a certain pint-sized favorite, and all the usual complaints that the writers have broken canon,...

The Acolyte Season 1, Episode 8, “The Acolyte,” finds Osha and Mae at a crossroads with their current abductors. Osha has a vision after putting The Stranger/Qimir’s helmet on. The Sith master struggles to free Osha from the helmet’s restraints, as he has to use dark force to remove them. Osha then tells him she envisioned Mae killing Sol without using weapons.
Meanwhile, they are chillingly watched over by Darth Plagueis. (We first met this character in the 2005 film Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.) According to Star Wars lore, he is a “Sith Lord with the ability to cheat death and create life.” Osha knows precisely where they are headed, and they leave together to see if they can stop her.
Meanwhile, back on the ship, while Mae is restrained, she blames Sol and his team for killing her entire community and family. He also...

This Star Wars: The Acolyte review contains spoilers.
While The Acolyte struggled across its first seven episodes, its finale is surprisingly coherent, fast-moving, and even riveting on occasion. The episode is undermined by the crumbly narrative foundation it’s built on, but there’s a lot to like here. Is it good enough to warrant a second season? Probably not. But judging by the number of loose ends the first season leaves dangling, the door seems open to continue the Mae/Osha saga.
This is one of the best episodes of the season. Maybe the best. It picks up where episode 6 left off, with the Stranger saving Osha from suffocating in his comically evil-looking sensory deprivation cortosis helmet. These two still don’t have much chemistry, but at least we’ve had time to repress the off-putting romance novel bunk we saw two weeks ago.

The season finale of The Acolyte begins where episode 6 ended; Osha is wearing The Stranger's helmet but appears to be losing control, forcing the mysterious Sith villain to help her remove it.
She had a vision of Mae killing Sol with one hand outstretched and a lightsaber in the other. This means her twin makes good on her promise to kill a Jedi without a weapon, prompting The Stranger and Osha to head to Brendok together.
On Sol's ship, he argues with Mae about who should be blamed for what happened on the planet sixteen years ago. She breaks free and flees in an escape ship, prompting the Jedi to chase her down. However, as he readies himself to shoot her out of the sky, Bazil intervenes and they both crash on the planet below.

The Acolyte comes to a close with an episode that promises more than it delivers. Here’s our episode 8 review.
Spoiler warning! These reviews will be spoiler-free for the week in question, but will discuss previous episodes in detail.
I really wanted to love The Acolyte. I would have even settled for liking it. A female-led Star Wars series – both in front of and behind the camera – that explores the Sith, the Jedi and the High Republic era? It seemed too good to be true – and it looks like it was.
Last week, we learned what really happened on Brendok 16 years ago that separated Mae and Osha and led the former on a brutal killing spree. Turns out, Sol was the one who killed Osha and Mae’s mother in front of Mae, leading her to harbour hate towards the Jedi. On top of that, Master Indara somehow killed the...

We, too, would freak out after being stuck in a sensory deprivation helmet that required the Stranger to free us. But Osha’s concern in The Acolyte’s season finale on Tuesday had to do with the vision she saw of Mae with a lightsaber — though her sister hadn’t used it.
The Stranger was intrigued that Mae might be able to kill without a weapon, after all. He and Osha then agreed to go after her together and see who got to her first.

In a damning open letter titled Loyalty Has Never Been Unconditional, the group of around 40 prominent Black figures said they are “appalled by the Labour Party’s treatment of Diane Abbott,” describing it as “disproportionate, undemocratic and vindictive.”

David Harewood is a distinguished British actor with a career spanning stage and screen. From portraying the Martian Manhunter in “Supergirl” to the steely David Estes in “Homeland,” Harewood has consistently delivered powerful performances. But beyond his acting chops, Harewood has recently made the news with his stance on a highly sensitive topic: blackface.

He added, “Yes, we’ve got to be representative, but I do think we have to be careful.

‘I was only able to go on stage hammered’: David Harewood on acting, racism and his new role at Rada
He had barely started his career when abuse left him mentally ill. But he went on to phenomenal success – and has just been made president of the UK’s leading drama school

Alan Wake 2 is an incredibly good-looking game. It shows how much work developer Remedy Entertainment put into this title. One thing that fans appreciated even more than its visuals was its story. This game is a prime example of how a narrative survival horror game should be presented to gamers. Juggling with two separate characters and still maintaining that fear factor can definitely be challenging.
Maybe that’s why it received universal critical acclaim upon its launch. It even ended up winning a bunch of awards. Remedy is pretty well known for making these kinds of games. Well-written, fun to play, and insanely good to look at, they have been leaders in making such complete packages. Now, it appears they are leading the way in yet another manner.
