Tatsuya Fuji's acting career suffered after appearing in the controversial art film In the Realm of the Senses (1976). He was unable to find any acting work for over two years before regaining his acting career. His co-star, Eiko Matsuda, permanently quit acting after being unable to find work as a result of the film.
