S is for Scrabble!
For as long as I can remember I've had a love affair with words! When I was in high school and even after I left home, my mother and I had a date every single Sunday afternoon to play Scrabble. We challenged, we gloated, we laughed until our sides hurt and we loved every second shared.
A few weeks ago my daughter invited me to play Scrabble with her on Facebook! And it's been such a treat to share this mother and daughter tradition with her! What fun!
Words take you anywhere you want to go, don't they? That's probably why I enjoy Alphabe-Thursday so much! Thank you Mrs. Matlock! In a word...it's a pleasure!

"In the Window" for Ruby Tuesday!
In the Window
Artist: Frank C. Kirk
The is one of the loveliest of selections from the antique album of scraps collected in the 1930's by a young girl from Ohio. I wonder what she would think if she knew her painstaking cuttings were becoming part of the Worldwide Web?

Q is for Queen of Hearts!
Why, it's none other than the Queen of Hearts reading her "The Art of Making Tarts" Cookbook! (I wonder if she knows she can also find free recipes on my other blog, Charming Vintage Recipes?) I wonder!

Healing Time!
Can't believe it's been two weeks already since my surgery...so glad it's over but the fun continues with PT every day and a visiting therapist three times a week. But I'm definitely not complaining! It's such a relief to be in the healing mode and not the waiting mode!
Also, great news for my daughter Carrie and family. Her husband Ben started a new job last Thursday and we are thrilled and relieved! All good news today!!!
Thanks so much for your continuing care and support! It means the world to me!
Hugs,
Coralie

We had such a beautiful Mothers Day yesterday! The youngest grandchildren, Logan 4 yrs and Paige 2 yrs, came to visit with their mom and dad (my daughter Carrie and her husband Ben). They were excited to present me with these beautiful works of art! And I love them!!!
Logan painted the "blues" (which he named "Shapes") and Paige painted the "lavenders"—Aren't they just so sweet!!!

A Memory Gift from the Heart!
Once in a while a gift comes along that is so special it makes your heart sing! That is what happened with the beautiful Mothers Day Memory pillow I received yesterday from my sweet granddaughter and her dear mom! I simply could not believe my eyes at the charm and loveliness of this picture pillow.
When it is said that a picture is worth a thousand words, I have to add, "Yes, it is, and even more!" This beautiful handmade memory pillow not only adds the joy of light and love to any room in our home but also brings back sweet memories of a little girl, now grown, who danced her way into our hearts.
This beautiful pillow is just one of the custom made gifts designed and produced by Laura Kangas, who along with her husband Todd is co-owner of Desperate Checkbook.
Laura and Todd share their passion for "going green" and talk about what their new business offers: Here at Desperate Checkbook, we have a need and passion for creating and giving. We realize that everyone has a "Desperate Checkbook" from time to time. But, if we step back...we can see that there are situations that occur all around us that should make us grateful for what we have...then realize that others may not be as fortunate.
...At Desperate Checkbook, we create and sell quality handmade items that are affordable...we then donate a portion of every sale to organizations that help those in need."
