Sorcery Priest Meemy is one of the two secondary antagonists in Mahou Sentai Magiranger, serving as the main antagonist of the second quarter and one of the secondary antagonists of the Boukenger vs Super Sentai special. He was also the ally-turned-archenemy of Hikaru.
He was portrayed by Yuichi Hachisuka and voiced by Yasuhiro Takato.
Biography[]
Past[]
Memmy was once the Sky Saint Raigel who was one of Blagel's students and an ally to Sungel (Hikaru) and Lunagel (Rin). He betrayed his former allies during their battle against Infershia, allowing Blagel to be mortally wounded and indirectly caused his transformation into N Ma's servant, Wolzard. He later ambushed Lunagel and caused her to lose her memories. When Sungel learned of this, he became enraged and declared that Raigel was no longer a Heavenly Saint. The two engage in the duel which ends in a tie, as Raigel was mummified and Sungel was turned into a frog.
Magiranger[]
After the death of Victory General Branken, Vancuria finds him and brings his body to Absolute Hades God N Ma to be revived. Meemy, seeing himself a vassal to N Ma, works hard to bring N Ma into the human world with his clever planning and the Hades Beastmen. However, Sungel evens the odds for the Magirangers as their mentor Hikaru. When meeting Wolzard, Memmy talks the knight into giving his magic to Vancuria. Among his plans, though disgusted at first, Meemy oversees the marriage of Beserker King Glúm do Bridon to Yuka Yamazaki by giving him a Puppet Ring so his human bride will comply. When he becomes desperate to resurrect N Ma, Memmy utilises the Hades Beastman Four Kings of Hell and later employs the aid of the Demon Apollos, who made a name for himself in space as Agent X. Eventually, using the most Forbidden form of magic, Memmy succeeds in using Magirangers' Legend powers to revive N Ma. As Kai battles Wolzard, Memmi takes Hikaru's challenge to a Magitopian Duel. Though he cheats by teleporting the MagiLanp into his hand to keep Sungel from dealing the final blow, Memmy is finally killed off by Hikaru using Meemy's own sword. Reverting back to his true form as his body dissolves into dust, Raigel's final words are of the advent of the Infershia Pantheon avenging N Ma.
Boukenger[]
A year later, Memmy is the first to be bought back to life by the power of Arch Priest Gajah's Gordom Engines provided to Time Demon God Chronos and aid him in his plan. He teams up with Chronos to fight Nanami, Asuka, Tetsu, Tsubasa and Eji and easily defeats them because they refuse to work together. He is shocked to see AkaRed transform into his old enemy, MagiRed. In the end, however, he is used as an ingredient to create a new Precious, the Staff of the Three Philosophers, that powers Chronos up. After Chronos is killed by Burning Legend DaiVoyager, the staff shatters and Meemy's soul is destroyed forever.
Personality[]
His personality and character traits during his life as Raigel remain unknown, but it can be presumed that once before his fall to the dark side, Meemy was far more honorable, honest, caring and compassionate individual and Hikaru mentioned that he was once his best frien, and also best friend of Isamu, Lunagel and Miyuki. However, it's heavily implied that Sorcery Priest was never a truly descent and benevolent person in the first place, because it was heavily implied that even during his time and period as Raigel he possessed an evil intent, lust for power, ambitious personality and traces of betrayal from the very start and these traits were increasing and growing more and more as he was plunging into the dark magic and succumbing to lust for the world domination. However, no matter how heroic or benevolent friend he was once towards the Heavenly Saints, he completely shredded and subverted all of these benevolent traits, after his betrayal and turning to the side of N Ma.
As Meemy, he is highly ruthless, treacherous, sadistic, egotistical and ambitious sorcerer, who cares only about himself and despises the Heavenly Saints and Magirangers and would stop at nothing to destroy them and revive his master N Ma. Meemy is always calm, sophisticated, collected and charming individual and never loses his temper with anyone. His power-hungry, arrogant, selfish and ruthless nature especially extends on his underlings, because he enjoys frequently humiliating, abusing and insulting his close assistants such as Nei and Mea and he also possesses a huge and heavy rivalry with Wolzard and constantly tries to frame him in treason to N Ma, outdo the wolf knight and constantly humiliate Wolzard, in order to prove himself superior to him in their loyalty to Absolute God.
It's heavily implied that Meemy completely subverted all of his redeeming qualities and it's made clear that he would never turn good again. This was furtherly proven to be true, judging by his sadistic personality and his complete contempt towards Magirangers, because he never showed any respect towards the young wizards in any way at any point. He also possesses a heavy hatred towards Sungel, constantly humiliating and trying to kill Hikaru, blaming the Solaris Knight for his current condition and for their first duel, which ended in Meemy's imprisonment and damnation. He hates Hikaru arguably more than any of his enemies and al, of his primary duels were indeed with Hikaru at the climax. Meemy is slso a highly intelligent, sly, charismatic, cunning and manipulative strategist, being able to create a cunning and highly complicated plans of achieving his goals, whether it means tricking his enemies or even sacrificing his own allies for this. This was shown entirely in his final appearance when he kidnapped the Magirangers and planned to sacrifice the siblings to N Ma.
Overall, Meemy lacks any genuine and true redeeming qualities and is nothing other than a ruthless, sadistic, deceitful and power-hungry liar and cheater, who lusts for power and was completely devoid of respect towards his enemies and even his own allies. However, while it's made clear that he would never turn good again, but he still has one potential debated factor. Meemy is completely loyal and faithful towards N Ma, being always polite and respectful to the Absolute God, and never arguing or contradicting him in sny way at any point. Arguably this is his only true genuine feature, because he remained and completely and unambiguously loyal to N Ma and never tried to betray or usurp him. However, it's still debatable whether this can serve as a redeeming quality because it was never made clear if Meemy was truly protective towards his master.
One of Meemy's extremely few mitigating factors was his sense of humor, because he frequently made a funny and clever jokes, that detracted from his villainy. After his revival in Boukenger, his personality remained the same, but he retained some of his earlier traits, such as his loyalty towards his master, now Chronos, and his ridiculous sense of humor, that detracted from his heinouness.
However, in the american Adaptation of Magiranger, Mystic Force, he was shown as Imperious as even more deceitful, treacherous and irredeemable psychopath, that lacked any redeeming features and even his loyalty towards his master Octomus wasn't genuine at all, because he only served him out of pragmatism and was willing to betray him at any point. Even the comedic moments of Imperious weren't played completely for laughs and didn't detract from his heinouness.
Powers and Abilities[]
- Power: Meemy was immensely powerful, due to his role as the high commander of the Infershia forces and was one of N Ma's most powerful minions. He possessed multiple supernatural magical powers and abilities and was overall the second most powerful enemy in Magirange surpassed only by N Ma himself.
- Teleportation: Meemy could teleport to any location at will.
- Self Growth: Meemy could grow to a size more than one hundred times the size of MagiKing.
- Heavenly Saint Form: Despite his current form, Meemy could transform into his Heavenly Saint Form.
- Monsters Summoning: Meemy had the ability to summon and free monsters from the Underworld to serve him.
- Monster Creation: Meemy could resurrect the souls of the undead and create his own monster as shown when he created Chimera.
- Spell Breaking: Meemy could break a spell as shown when he broke free from Makito's Vine Power.
- Finger Force: Meemy could send his enemies flying just by poking them with his index finger.
- Energy Barrier: Meemy could cast a barrier to trap his enemies in.
- Dark Energy Blast: Meemy could fire a blast made of dark energy to disable protection spells.
- Morpher Spell: Meemy could turn any magic powers into a as shown when he turned Wolzard's magic into a MagiPhone for Vancuria.
- Virus Spell: Medmy could cast a spell to infect the MagiLegend with a crippling virus Mold.
- Lightning Beam: Meemy could open a wormhole in an area and fire an orange-yellow colored lightning beam at the enemy.
- Magi Fan: Meemy could turn himself into a magic fan, which is similar to Houka's but more powerful.
- Vine Generation: Meemy could unleash vines to wrap his enemies with which was similar to the ability that Makito used but stronger.
- Water Tornado: Meemy could fire a water tornado which was stronger then Urara's water power.
- Energy Storm: Meemy could generate a cloud of black smoke and yellow lightning to travel through.
- Skilled Fighter: Meemy was a skilled fighter who was able to effortlessly defeat all five Magirangers with ease.

- Attack Blocking: Meemy's fan was strong enough to defeat Kai's Power of the Phoenix attack with a single swing.
- Energy Empowerment: In its staff mode, Meemy could charge his fan up with purple energy and swing it at full force.
- Teleportation Cast: Meemy could teleport any ally at will with his fan.
- Energy Absorption: Meemy could use his fan to absorb energy from other beings as seen when Udonna fired at him after his lie about Daggeron being evil was uncovered.
- Invisible Force: By shouting the spell phrase, Meemy could fire an invisible force from his fan strong enough to take down all five Rangers.
- Insect Spell: By shouting the spell phrase, Meemycould use his fan to turn anyone into an insect as shown when he turned Nei & Mea into an insects.
- Teleportation Swipe: Meemy could swipe his fan at an ally to teleport them to any location at will.
- Energy Transference: Meemy could use his fan to fire a continuous purple colored tornado at the target to transform them into pure energy and transfer them into a creation of his.
- Freeze Spell: By ordering "Be still", Meemy could fire blue energy at his enemies from his fan to freeze them in place.
- Magic Blast: Meemy could fire a continuous blast of magical purple energy from his fan.
- Energy Blast: Imperious could fire a green energy blast from his fan.
- Energy Laser: Meemy could fire purple colored energy lasers from his fan.
- Lightning Generation: Imperious could generate purple colored lightning from his fan.
- Lightning Bolt: By shouting the another dark magic spell, Meemy could conjure a powerful light blue colored lightning bolt with his fan.
- Mega Lightning Bolt: Meemy could cast a lightning bolt from his fan like before which was similar to his normal lightning bolt ability, but colored purple, larger, and stronger. It was powerful enough to free the Hades Beastmen Four Kings of Hell from their prison.
- Centipede Attack: Meemy could fire centipedes made of dark energy from his fan as well.
- Time Spell: Meemy could use his fan to cast a spell that could replay any events that has happened in the past.
- Dark Power: Meemy could fire a dark purple lightning beam from his fan as well.
- Flame Force: Meemy could release a force of fire from his fan stronger then the MagiRed's Power Of The Phoenix ability.
- Lightning Redirection: Meemy could catch lightning with his fan and. by shouting the dark incantation spell, fire it back at the enemy.
- Magic Pen: Meemy could conjure up a dark pen that could be used to summon a dark seal which he gave to Hades Beastman Garim the Gremlin.
