Street Fighter IV, like many 3D fighting games, features alternate costumes for the playable characters. The game also continues the tradition of using alternate colors for these characters, allowing the player to select a color for both original and alternate costumes.

All characters in Street Fighter IV and its updates have 6 or 7 costumes with 10 colors each (plus two "stylized" versions of color 1). Costumes from the Vacation, Wild, and Horror packs have 20 colors each.^[1]

Street Fighter IV Costumes

Each character has one alternate costume in the original Street Fighter IV.

Super Street Fighter IV Costumes

In Super Street Fighter IV, the returning characters have three costumes, and the characters introduced in Super and Arcade Edition have two.

Ultra Street Fighter IV Costumes

In addition to every previously released costume, the new characters of Ultra Street Fighter IV were given two costumes each. They have their Alternate 1 costumes locked. The player must have save data from Street Fighter X Tekken to use them.^[1] Their Alternate 2 is either available by pre-ordering the game or as DLC. Three new sets for every character were also introduced as DLC: Vacation, Wild, and Horror.

Alternate 3 -- A formal suit and a fedora, which is reminiscent of Cracker Jack.

Alternate 2 -- Dan's outfit.

Alternate 2 -- A variation of M. Bison's uniform, wearing a red leotard instead of his suit.

Chun-Li

Alternate 3 -- Her tracksuit from Street Fighter Alpha.

Alternate 1 -- A modern take on his outfit from Final Fight.

Dan

Alternate 3 -- A green variation of his outfit with a sideways Tengu Mask, inspired by his late father Go Hibiki.

Decapre

Alternate 1 -- A skirtless variation of Cammy's Alternate Costume in Street Fighter X Tekken.

Alternate 1 -- Similar to an outfit worn by Honda in promotional artwork for Street Fighter II: The World Warrior.

El Fuerte

Alternate 6 (Horror) -- A skeleton outfit, similar to Skullomania, except that his face isn't completely covered.

Elena

Alternate 1 -- Her school uniform; originally seen in her Street Fighter III: New Generation ending, it also appeared as her Alternate Costume in Street Fighter X Tekken.

Evil Ryu

Alternate 5 (Horror) -- Resembles Fujin, the god of wind in the Shinto religion.

Fei Long

Alternate 1 -- The scars on his face and chest are reminiscent of the late real-life martial artist/actor Bruce Lee from the 1973 martial arts action film Enter the Dragon.
Alternate 2 -- Similar to Bruce Lee's portrayal of Kato, the sidekick of the Green Hornet in the 1966 television series.

Alternate 4 (Vacation) -- Reminiscent of the Greek God of the Sea, Poseidon.

Guile

Alternate 1 -- Charlie Nash's outfit from Street Fighter Alpha.
Alternate 3 -- A formal military uniform, seen in his Capcom Fighting Evolution ending.
Alternate 4 (Vacation) -- Resembles Doctrine Dark.

Alternate 1 -- His Alternate Costume in Street Fighter X Tekken.

Alternate 1 -- Ibuki's high school attire seen in her Street Fighter III: New Generation ending.

Alternate 1 -- From King Cobra, a character design that was scrapped in favor of Rufus.
Alternate 3 -- His training gear seen in his Street Fighter Alpha 2 ending.

Alternate 2 - Resembles Lady from Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening.

Alternate 5 (Horror) -- Resembles Raijin, the god of thunder in the Shinto religion.

Rolento

Alternate 1 -- His Alternate Costume in Street Fighter X Tekken.

Rose

Alternate 3 -- A dress similar to the one she wears in one of her win poses in the Street Fighter Alpha series.

Rufus

Alternate 2 -- Modeled after a jiangshi, with Color 9 being similar to Hsien-Ko from the Darkstalkers series. Rufus was originally going to have his attributes change if the tag was knocked off, though this idea was rejected due to balance concerns.

Alternate 3 -- Younger appearance. Based on an official piece of artwork.

Sakura

Alternate 1 -- A variation of Ryu's uniform. Color 10 removes the gi.
Alternate 2 -- Inspired by her appearance in the ending of Sakura Ganbaru!, as well as her Super Street Fighter IV ending.

Alternate 1 -- Mike Haggar's outfit from Final Fight.
Alternate 2 -- A redesign of Mech-Zangief from the Marvel vs. Capcom series.
Alternate 3 -- One of his outfits from Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix.
