A mission was undertaken by Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice Anakin Skywalker on the Moon of Staggec to rescue Galactic Republic senators Padmé Amidala, Yarua, and others. Forces of the Confederacy of Independent Systems led by General Grievous captured Amidala and the others while they were on what they thought would be a diplomatic mission to the moon, only to be ambushed. The two Jedi rescued the daughter of Yarua, Viiveenn who was hiding in the jungle. Unknown to them, her father had hidden a valuable item in her doll to prevent it from falling into Grievous's hands.[2] Grievous was under orders from Count Dooku to recover the artifact, which had once been stored in the moon's Jedi Temple.[1] Yarua had brought the item as a show of good faith and gift for the Moon of Staggec delegation in exchange for their alliance, but hid it once the Separatists revealed themselves.[2]
But Kenobi and Viiveen were captured by the Separatists and taken aboard a Munificent-class star frigate. Kenobi was able to free himself and locate Skywalker who left to find Amidala. Skywalker found the senator who in the end saved herself. Kenobi then confronted Grievous who engaged him in a lightsaber duel. But then Grievous took Viiveenn hostage. Yarua charged at Grievous, freeing his daughter and sacrificing himself. As the Jedi and rescued prisoners escaped, all but Viiveenn remained unaware of where the valuable item Yarua had owned had ended up.[2]
