A data rod, also known as a memory rod or datastick, was a device used for information storage, similar to a datapad or data cube. Data rods were often found in libraries and could be inserted into datapads.[1]
A collection of datasticks were used in the Jedi Temple on Coruscant and were held in the Jedi Archives. In the aftermath of Order 66, Naboo Captain Gregar Typho was looking through a series of these devices when Aurra Sing attacked him. Throwing one of the spheres to the ground, the resulting explosion allowed him to distract the bounty hunter.[2]
