Boxes are interactable objects in Splatoon and Splatoon 2. They come in different shapes and sizes, and many of them have keys to progress or rewards for finding them.

Appearance[]

Normal[]

Boxes are wooden crates that can easily be broken by ink, whether player or enemy ink(easily broken in 2 or 3 shots) They are bigger than the player, almost double their size. But does not contain any items.

Small[]

These are noticeably smaller than the box above, although almost big as the player, missing a few centimeters. They are easy to break (takes only one shot), as they are small and weak. They also dont drop any items when splatted.

Protected[]

These look just like the basic, normal boxes, but they are wrapped in some sort of plastic (except the center of it). Due to the wrapping they are extremely strong, taking about 10 to 18 shots to break.

Decorated[]

This and all of the other decorated variants of this one look just like the ones above, except they are orange, they have an icon or logo printed on the middle of the design, and they contain things in it, whether it is a key, armor, special, or an enemy Octarian. Something that sets these ones put too, is that they cannot be broken by enemy Octarians.

Small Decorated[]

These are the smaller version of the normal decorated box, they are also orange and contain keys, armor, special, Power Eggs and an enemy Octarian. Takes one shot to be destroyed, same as normal small boxes.

Target Crates[]

These act just like boxes, although they have a completely different look. Their normal and small boxes are neon green boxes with color designs printed on the center of each side, and the protected ones are orange and have multicolored designs on the center of each sides. Unlike the normal boxes, which appear looking as wood, what makes target crates are unknown, and are assumably plastic.

Trivia[]

  • Boxes have appeared in all of the games, and (possibly) in all of the levels.
  • There are levels in the DLC which are simply about boxes, from shaping them into structures to breaking them all.
