Sonic Advance (ソニックアドバンス,Sonikku Adobansu?) is a remaster of Sonic Advance for Android mobile devices that was only released in Japan and Chinese Mainland. (Chinese version released on egame platform. The game requires payment to unlock subsequent content) was originally published as a free Android application from the Android Marketplace (now known as Google Play) in November 2011,[2] though it later became available through the Puyo Puyo! Sega subscription service in December 2011.[3]
Sonic Advance is a 2D side-scrolling video game that plays virtually identical to the original game. As with that game, the player has four characters to play as: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy, each with their own movesets and playstyles. To control their character, the player is given an in-game on the left and A and B buttons on the right.

The player is now given the optional setting to move in the Special Stages by tilting the device.
A loading screen, containing several tips for the player, has been added in between levels.
The intro cutscene can now be skipped by pressing a button on the bottom left corner of the screen.

The life counter has been moved to the top right corner of the screen.
The music has suffered several changes compared to the original game:
The Sonic and Tails mode from the original game is inaccessible in this port.
Shields sport a transparency effect which is not present in the original game.
Trivia[]
The game features a number of bugs that depend on the device (Most of the bugs it's because the Japanese version is not compatible with the Higher version Android), with some users reporting normal game performance while others noting unbearable issues. This is possibly due to the game only being tested on a limited range of hardware. As a result, there have been reports of bugs such as extremely slow gameplay, terrible framerates, and the game locking up when the device goes into sleep mode.
