Mobigypt[1] is a location that appears in the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog television series. It was an ancient civilization on Mobius, highly advanced for its time.

Description[]

Mobigypt was filled with pyramids and obelisks, and its inhabitants were famous for writing down everything in hieroglyphics.[1]

History[]

TV series[]

Season one[]

Dr. Ivo Robotnik and the Super Special Sonic Search and Smash Squad traveled back in time to Mobigypt while searching for the Chaos Emerald of Immortality, with which Robotnik could live forever. While there, he also sought to prevent Sonic's ancestor Masonic the Hedgehog (the fastest bricklayer in Mobigypt) from meeting his future bride Penelope (who ran the nearby chili dog stall), so that they could never have children and Sonic would never be born in the future. This plan was thwarted by Sonic and Tails.

Robotnik later kidnapped and tortured the Pharaoh of Mobigypt and made himself the Pharaoh, which allowed him to force all of his subjects (including Sonic, Tails and Masonic) to build monuments in his honor. He then sought out the Chaos Emerald of Immortality in the pyramid of his own ancestor, Robotnikhotep. Robotnikhotep was kept immortal by the Emerald as a mummy, but was eternally opposed by an unnamed mummified hedgehog, who had his own blue Emerald. When Robotnikhotep could not defeat this mummified hedgehog, Robotnik took the Chaos Emerald for himself and turned on Sonic. However, with the mummified hedgehog's blue Emerald giving him a blue energy shield, Sonic was able to defeat Robotnik and take back the Chaos Emerald.[1]

Masonic and Penelope were later married, with the ceremony presided over by the real Pharaoh. Before Sonic and Tails returned to their own time however, Sonic remodeled the face of one of Robotnik's sphinx-like monuments, so that instead of the doctor, it resembled Sonic and Tails.[1]

Later, Dr. Robotnik traveled back to an earlier point in time in Mobiogypt and took the Chaos Emerald of Immortality for himself before his past self came for it, and departed Mobigypy with the Emerald. When Sonic and Tails arrived too late to retrieve the Chaos Emerald, they fought Robotnikhotep, whom they easily defeated.[2]

Trivia[]

  • Mobigypt is based on Ancient Egypt. Another location that is based on Ancient Egypt, Hamarapi, appeears in Sonic Underground, but has more of a sci-fi theme to it (such as pyramids being made of metal and glass rather than sandstone and mudbrick).
  • Mobigypt is a portmanteau of the words "Mobius" and "Egypt."
