A Golden Armour! You won the challenge of the 7 Emeralds?

Tails, from Sonic Adventures: Dans Les Griffes De Robotnik.

The Golden Armor (French: Armure d'or[2]) is a transformation that appears in the Sonic Adventures comic series published by Sirène. It is a form granted to Sonic the Hedgehog after clearing the Echidna's Special Stage.[3]

Description[]

The Golden Armor transformation is achieved by harnessing the seven Magical Emeralds.

The form obscures/transforms the user's primary color with its golden aura. When transformed, Sonic's blue fur turns yellow while his white gloves, peach skin and black eyes and nose stay the same. His peach skin gains a slightly golden hue and the golden armor slightly grew out his quills.

List of Users[]

Sonic and Amy materialize in Green Hill (Sonic Adventures)

Materializing in Green Hill, from Sonic Adventures: Dans Les Griffes De Robotnik.

After escaping Doctor Robotnik by diving into a volcano where a Giant Ring was waiting, Sonic found himself in the Special Stage. Amy Rose was confused the environment seemingly set up as a game but Sonic recognized the location and proceeded to clear the challenge. Princess Alucion congratulated Sonic's skill, noting his score matched her greatest warriors of the Echidna civilization. Amy found that nice but asked what Sonic's reward for doing so. Alucion reached out her hand and gifted Sonic seven Magical Emeralds, giving a Golden Armor transformation, along with the ability to be teleported to any location he wants.

Right after, Sonic would use this power to teleport over to the Green Hill Zone where Tails was staying. Tails thought Sonic and Amy had died but was pleasantly surprised when they materialized behind him. Sonic dropped off Amy with him before showing off his new Golden Armor's powers to everyone present and the reader, claiming Doctor Robotnik's problems have only started.[3]

The 7 Magical Emeralds (Sonic Adventures)

Princess Alucion rewards Sonic with access to the Golden Armor, from Sonic Adventures: Dans Les Griffes De Robotnik.

Its implied by Tails that the duo knew of the Golden Armor and challenge before the events of the story but hadn't discovered where the challenge was located.

The Echindas are Planet Mobius' first people. While their history and cultural relationship with the Emeralds are unknown, Sonic notes that in the present they left cities in ruins all over Mobius.[4] Their modern day leader, Princess Alucion, wears the Grey Emerald on her person as a cultural symbol of her royal status and is in charge of looking after the 'Challenge of the 7 Emeralds'.

When Sonic beaten the Special Stage, the princess congratulated his skill and notes that up to that point, only her civilization's greatest warriors were capable of achieving such a high score. Amy found that kinda neat but wondered whats Sonic's reward for completing the challenge. Alucion then gave Sonic the Magical Emeralds and the power she calls the 'Golden Armor', implying the great echidna warriors of old also had received the same rewards.[1]

Powers and abilities[]

In the Golden Armor, users gain new abilities in the form. Implied by the form's name, the user's defensives are amplified to receive its protection.

While the form briefly appear in the comic, it is shown that users wearing the golden armour are granted the ability of Flight and use Teleportation to go anywhere they want by thought, even capable of bringing others with them. In addition, Sonic would only break the Fourth wall while enveloped in the form and address the reader.[3]

Trivia[]

  • Its possible the Magical Emerald's Golden Armor had access to the abilities of the Retro-Orbital Chaos Compressor (ROCC) from the Kintobor origin that Sonic Adventures based itself on but it was never mentioned in the comic.
  • Despite the comic showing that multiple Magical Emeralds exist in the continuity, it was only through the Emeralds given out by Princess Alucion did Sonic discover how to activate the 'Golden Armor'.
