Dr. Eggman and Metal Sonic^[1] are the sub-bosses of Death Egg mk.II Zone Act 1 in Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode II. In this battle, Metal Sonic and Dr. Eggman team up to defeat Sonic the Hedgehog and Miles "Tails" Prower.

Attack pattern[]

Like the Metal Sonic boss in White Park Zone, this boss battle keeps moving forward, not stopping at all until the ending. Unlike every other boss battle involving Dr. Eggman, the main objective is to defeat Metal Sonic alone, while Eggman himself only serves as an obstacle.

Periodically, Metal Sonic will charge himself up, which is similar to what he did before, and create a large, electrified energy ball. He will either throw it in a way that arcs downwards, or upwards. During this, Eggman moves closer to the left side of the screen, although either high in the air, hovering above the ground, or on the ground itself. The only way to hit Metal Sonic is to do it before he charges, or after he throws his energy ball, while avoiding Eggman, who cannot be damaged.

This boss battle seems to be the only one in this game (except for the main boss of the act) that can be finished without hitting the boss eight times. Instead, it takes three hits to defeat the duo. Afterward, the damaged Metal Sonic will flee with Eggman, and the act will continue as normal.

Trivia[]

• The type of Egg Mobile that Eggman is using seems to be the one used in the Egg Serpentleaf boss battle, as the back of the Egg Mobile has the same cybernetic yellow, but this time with propellers at the bottom.
