"A rose by any other name ....."

What's in a name?
Butterfly, moth - all beautiful creatures in their own way.

What am I rambling on about you may ask.

Well, I decided to join in with Mrs A's current
but think I have used moths
instead of butterflies!
Maybe they're moths masquerading as butterflies!

Seeing as I finished this tag, I will take my chance
and enter it in the challenge anyway.

The current theme is
'monochromatic'
"You are free to create your  project and butterflies
in any shades (of one colour) you like
and decorate as you wish."

I made my tag based on the one I made the
other day for Tim Holtz 12 tags challenge, and
that one was quite grungy - here's a little
peep at it again
(if you click on the pic you should be taken
to the post showing how I made it)

For the butterfly (moth!) challenge therefore,
I decided to go for something more feminine - PINK!

Here's what I used

.... and here's the finished tag

The 'butterflies' are from
PaperArtsy - 'Ancestors - Plate 1'.
The sentiment is also from
PaperArtsy - 'Clocks 4 - C4'.
The background stencil was one I've had
for ages and ages.
The bow is some old seam binding
coloured with some of the distress ink.

Thanks for looking - and don't worry Mrs A
if you can't accept this into your challenge,
I enjoyed making it anyway x

Tim Holtz: 12 Tags of 2014 - June

DSC00308 3.37.51 PM
Tim's tag for June is above -
If you want to see how he made it,
click on the picture to go to his blog.

..... and here's my version

The idea this month was to create a look of
blended watercolour with a stencil and
distress inks.

The background was first made on watercolour paper
then stuck onto a manilla tag.

I didn't have the stamp set Tim used but
found this butterfly one in my stash -
from PaperArtsy (Ancestors - Plate 1).
(The words are from one of Tim's
Stampers Anonymous)

The ribbon for the bow was supposed to be
multi coloured as I did use all four of the
distress inks but the Peeled Paint green
colour seems to have won the day!

I used a couple of pink buttons instead of the
tiny gears and spinner Tim used.

Only a couple days wait until next
month's Tim tag, hopefully, I won't leave that one as late.

Thanks for looking :)

LOL - lots of luck!

LOL - lots of love, laugh out loud -
how about lots of luck?

I made these little folders based on the official
National Lotto one you can see above.

It opens up to reveal two plastic compartments
designed to hold a lottery ticket.

I used Sheena Douglass technique again - faux leather
as shown in her YouTube video.

I made four wallets with one piece of A4 Kraft Cardstock.

I embossed them with a St Patrick's background folder
by Darice, and coloured them with Distress Ink -
Peeled Paint, and one of the brown colours (I can't
remember which one it was now)

Inside, I lined them with some Tim Holtz
Eclectic Elements fabric.

For the plastic inserts, I cut two pieces of acetate
(which I'd saved from some packaging or other)
and machine stitched them on.
The stitching is a bit wonky - don't look too closely!

You might be able to see the plastic insert a
little better in the above picture.

I finished them off with a little fabric tag and
attached a shamrock charm - for good luck!

I like the really worn, shabby look -
and uneven stitching - all adds to their charm!

The question now is, will they bring me good luck
with the lottery?
I'd better buy a ticket first, that'd help.

LOL - lots of love and luck to you all xx
