Creation Station's Got Girl Power


With it being the first Sunday of the month today is the day for another Creation Station Blog Hop. Our theme for this month's hop is "Girl Power."  This hop gives up the chance to show off our sassy/spunky/flashy/funky attitude of love and gratitude.


A sparkling bejeweled crown says "girl power" to me.  It was the first thing that came to mind for this theme.  What I wasn't thinking of was the teal and aqua color palette.  I had planned to use bright toned embossed flowers, but as I was trying things out it just wasn't jiving for me.  So, I tossed all the flowers aside and went with a power palette of strong lines to showcase the greeting and crown.


For the crown I stamped on Gold Foil Paper with Versamark Ink which I heat embossed with a mix of Clear Embossing Powder and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.   I've mentioned this mixture in previous posts and to make it work you need more clear powder than glitter.  Experiment with this technique and you'll love the results you can achieve.

#TGIF235 Twin Tags

This week's challenge is not a color palette nor a technique, instead we are making tags!  So, get ready to join along for #TGIF235 because ... "tag you're it!"



At Christmastime I make a huge, I mean HUGE, stack of handmade gift tags.  My whole family comes over to the stamp area to find tags to finish off their special packages.  I think they would be happy with a roughly cut piece of wrapping paper folded in half to label their presents, but I have to give them my best right?  So, festive tags is what they get!


To make this tag pile up quickly I make a few duplicates but mostly I make twins.  I'll use the same layout and tools and just mix up the papers, stamps, punches, dies, and accessories to create new looks without totally reinventing the wheel.



Stampin a simple "to/from" on the back and these tags were done!

Fancy Friday Holiday Mixer


Welcome to October's Fancy Friday Blog Hop.  We're a bunch of past and present Stampin' Up! Artisans who enjoy showcasing our craftsmanship with all of you stamp enthusiast each month. Today we are having a Holiday Mixer!  We are combining products from the Annual Catalog and the Holiday Catalog to create a little something beautiful fo the Christmas season.


In this season's Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog there are these Snow Globe Shaker Domes.  They fit perfectly with the Still Scenes Stamp Set and Snow Globe Scenes Dies.  These are SUPER fun to include in your hand made cards, tags, and ornaments.


To start I spritzed a piece of Whisper White Cardstock with a mix of rubbing alcohol and Pool Party Ink Refill.  Then when it was dry I ran it through the Scripty 3D.  You might notice that when I cut the hold for the shaker dome I kept the cut out piece to back the scene.  This detail creates a seamless look and continues the visual lines and texture.


When making a card with a heavy loaded front, I feel that the inside needs to have both visual and actual weight for balance.  For this card I simply layered colors of cardstock and stamped a beautiful greeting with Pretty Peacock Ink.  I had an extra reindeer cut so I trimmed the bottom off and added it to appear as if it's stepping inside the scene.

HSS#326 Happy Day


Have you seen the Let It Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper?  It's a specialty pack because there are all these great glittering details on most of the pages.  Each of these detail cut snow people have sparkling-glitter to make them extra super cute and happy.

For our latest sketch challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments I thought this trio of snowmen would fit the layout perfectly.  Do pop over to our site and see what all of the Designers have whipped up featuring this cool new layout.


I busted out three sets of dies to create this card.  I first used the Layering Circles for the main focal point, then the Rectangle Stitched Dies, and last the Word Wishes to cut the "Happy Day."  I worked in reverse of my usual for cutting the Pool Party layer.  Usually I would cut the stitched rectangle then I would emboss the Tufted 3D.  When I go in that order the stitching detail gets squished and lost.  I was pleased that the tufted look didn't get too smashed and the stitching shows well.


For the "Happy Day" and the scalloped circle I used the blue paper from the Peacock Foil pack.  It blends great with the Blueberry Bushel details in the snowman papers.  The dark blue twine is pulled from the Night of Navy Sahara Sand Bakers Twine.  Take a close look at the top hat and you will see Red Rhinestone berries.

Monday Montage #150


Hello Stampin' Friends and welcome to our Monday Montage Blog Hop.  We are a bunch of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who love to create and share our latest projects with you.


Isn't the Christmas card cute?  It's decked out with Let is Snow Specialty Designer Series Paper with the Perfectly Plaid Stamp Set.  I love how the addition of the background paper design and the coral and aqua colors add a bit of retro fun to this card.  


I used punches for both the trees and the snowman, however I did detail cut the top hat out.  The trees are each embellished with Red Rhinestones.  Lately I have used tons of the delicate rhinestone beauties.  So, if you need a bit of bling these are great.

#TGIF233 Christmastime is Here

It's sketch challenge time for TGiF.  Check out our latest layout and how each designer took a unique approach to the challenge at #TGIF233.


I just received the Christmastime is Here Bundle and decided to ink up all the images to make this rose and pine bough bouquet.  I went with a not so common color palette for a Christmas card.  I mixed Pretty Peacock with Rococo Rose, Poppy Parade, Mint Macaron, and Soft Suede.


My loose interpretation of the sketch is carried out with the layout of the main rose image and the three pinecones.  I love how there are stamped images interlaced with die cut pieces.  I used two set of die for this card; the one that coordinates with Christmas Rose Stamp Set called Roses Dies and the Beautiful Boughs Dies.  Those two together can make quite an impact when creating bouquets on hand crafted cards.

In the SPIRIT of Fall


A haunted house shaker card is fitting for this changing season.  I the spirit of fall I have put together this awesomely detailed greeting card for our theme challenge at Hand Stamped Sentiments.


Over the weekend I made quite a few snow/shaker globe cards.  They are tons of fun to put together and this one really put a smile on my face when done.  I love the use of the Monster Bash DSP to create the shaker globe base.


Look real close and you might find the spider jewel tucked inside the shaker globe.  Last year at this time Stampin' Up! sold these embellishments and I had some still in my stash.  Also in my stash from last year or the year before was some Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper.  I love any color glimmer paper so I keep lots on hand.

Monday Montage White Cat


Welcome to another installment of Monday Montage!  Here's a quick Halloween card that at first glance seems quite innocent.  In my opinion an all white cat is creepy, eerie, and super spooky.
  

Using the Circle Dies I cut a moon and embellished it with a bit of stampin'.  Next, I punched a cat and cut the greeting "Happy Halloween" using the Word Wishes Dies.  Are you loving the Pumpkin Pie Glimmer Paper?  It's a retired paper from Stampin' Up! that I have in my stash.  To back the focal elements of my card is a panel of Buffalo Plaid black and white cardstock layered to show a sliver of Mango Melody edging.

Creation Station is Featuring Black and White


Being the first Sunday of the month means it's time for a Creation Station Blog Hop.  October's theme for the Design Team is to use black and white only and add one color.  My choice was to add Crushed Curry.  It's not your typical Halloween color but look how fun and funky it mixes with black and white-- it's spooktacular!


With the help of the coffin boxes I made this whimsical Halloween garland that will look super cool embellishing a black feather wreath hanging on a mirror in my entry.


I grabbed a few things that were perfect for the look I had envisioned for this quirky garland.  One, I have to have black cardstock and texture.  I had to use the Stylish Scroll Embossing Folder because to me it is spooky and reminiscent of haunted houses.  Second, I had to have Frost White Shimmer Paint to enhance all the crazy textures in the garland.


I also loved adding the Ornate Frames to tuck interesting layers here and there.  They became just right for directing focus to the Monster Bash Enamel Shapes.  The last big detail I wanted to include were Crushed Curry doily flags.  They carefully are suspended inside the lined coffins and lend to the visual texture I was hoping to create.
