A Quilter's Story

In 2014 my sister and I attended our first quilt retreat sponsored by "Quilt Taffy" in McCall Idaho.  I met a mother and daughter duo, Peggy and Jen.  Within the next year, I was quilting Peggy's quilts.  She lived in California and I lived in Washington.

Fast forward to 2016, Peggy sent two quilts back because the stitching on the backs was messed up big time.  I went on a three-day golf vacation and took one of the quilts with me, spending my spare time picking out stitches.  It took me over a month to pick out both quilts and re-quilt them.

The last quilts that I quilted for Peggy were "Dr. Seuss on The Loose".  Peggy was a retired teacher and gave the quilts to schools as part of their Dr. Seuss reading programs. Peggy passed away in 2018.

Last night I was on Facebook when I came across a video from "MadiMarieSchoolofSewing".  Jennifer was showing some quilts that she would be selling Saturday in Redcrest California.  I recognized one of the quilts that I had quilted for Peggy and messaged Jen to let her know that I wanted to buy it.

Summer Round-Up

Summer is almost over and I am ready for the temperature drop!  We have been playing golf in 100+ degrees most of the summer.  Tuesday, several of us golfers went to a neighboring golf course outside Walla Walla called "Wine Valley".  The temperature was about 75, no wind, and no smoke!  Absolutely beautiful.

A friend of mine from high school commissioned me to make seven quilts for Christmas presents.  I am working on #5.

This morning, I finished a fall table topper, which will go to a friend!

Nothing much going on, sew will catch you later!

Several Finishes!

The Covid-19 virus has screwed up my part-time job at Joann's.  They finally had to close the store to customers, and have curbside service only.  I have been off for the past two weeks, but have been able to get some quilts finished!  Most of these have yet to be quilted but "Winter Stars" has been quilted and shipped off to my Step-Son in Ohio!  It started out as a table topper but Scott asked me to make him a queen-sized quilt.  It turned out pretty scrappy but the main fabric was "Urban Farmhouse".

The "Dutchman's Puzzle" has also been finished and shipped off to my customer.  She should have received it last Wednesday, but I haven't heard from her to see if she is happy.

"Endless Possibilities" has also been shipped off to my good friend, who is giving it for a birthday gift.  I have made this quilt twice, but still don't have one for me!  My sister has one is blues.

AUNT REETA'S QUILT

I stopped by cousin Roxanne’s Wednesday to drop off some towels that I had made for her. While visiting, I noticed a quilt that I had made for Aunt Reeta folded and sitting on a chair. From what I could see, it looked like it had issues!
I opened it and sure enough, it was worn in several spots. Aunt Reeta loved that quilt and took it everywhere with her.
Needless to say, I couldn’t leave it in such a condition. I told Roxanne that I would repair it and get it back to her.   It might be smaller, but she would get it back.

Today, I washed and dried it and tomorrow I will start the repair work. I will keep you all informed about my progress😘😘

Please Save Me From The "Quilt Police"!

Beautiful day outside by no golf for the avid golfer--I have bursitis in my right shoulder and it hurts to play!  Crap!!

I joined a QAL on Instagram last week sponsored by "Then Came Jane", using her pattern "Meadowland Quilt".  I bought some Art Gallery fat quarters and got started.  The first week was just to pick your fabric and get it cut.  Well, being a little obsessive, I got a good start in piecing the blocks and finished 8 of 20.  I posted on Instagram and WHAMP, I was slammed by the Quilt Police who decided that 1. I used the wrong 2.5" squares, and 2.  I made my flying geese wrong!!  Oh, by the way, they loved my mistake!!

I posted a nice commentary on Quilt Police on my site!!

I have been digging around my sewing room trying to finish some of my UFO's.  I got one quilted and the binding on.    The pattern is one of Carrie Nelson's and the fabric is Moda's Victoria!

I also made two quilts for a friend's two granddaughters.  Oh, they are soooo cute.  One is made from "Frozen" and one is made from pink doggie fabric.  Did I say that they are soooo cute!

I am making stew and fresh biscuits for dinner, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY COUSIN VONDA!!

Snow, Snow, and NO Golf!

We finally have some snow in the Tri-Cities and it is definitely interfering with my golf game!

Small Table Topper made for a friend!  Lori Holt Patterns

Scrappy Tote Bag
I started part-time work last October at "Joann's"!  Haven't spent all of my paychecks at the store, but did pick up lots of backing during December!  I am only working 10 - 15 hours a week, some times less!  However, it is perfect for me at this time!

I listen to Audible books while sewing and quilting.  I have already completed the 2020 Challenge and will receive my reward in March!  I wish that they would give me six months of free books!!

Time to clean up my mess in the sewing room and take a few hours to relax before dinner!

Life

I am sitting at my sewing machine, working on a queen quilt for a friend.  I saw this block, Dutchman's Puzzle on PINTEREST and am using soft pastels!

I finished this Moon Quilt last weekend at the farmers market.  It was designed by Cakestand Quilts,
but I only used this one block!

My big thrill of this summer starts Monday.  I am going to the coast to babysit my granddaughter for the week.  She will be three in October.  We have not spent much time together, so it should be interesting!!

I haven't decided if I am taking my sewing machine and projects with me.  On one hand, I probably won't have time and on the other hand, I hate to be without it.  I normally sew every day!  I am having withdrawal pangs just thinking about leaving my machine home!  PHEW,  decision made, it is going!!

Off to get another cup of coffee!

"To Market, To Market..."

Good Saturday morning!

I am getting ready to head to the Prosser's Farmers Market and wanted to share a quilt that I made for a raffle at the market.  The proceeds will go to a woman fighting breast cancer.  She sells chicken and duck eggs!

Off I go!

Monday Morning!

Good Monday morning!  I hope that your weekend was as good as mine!

Had my first craft show of the year on Saturday.  The day was beautiful and met a lot of new customers!  It was the third annual "Spring Fling" sponsored by "My Garden Over Floweth", located in Patterson, Washington.

Yesterday, I got my garden planted, just tomatoes and cucumbers!  I set up a booth every Saturday at the Prosser Farmers Market, so I don't need to plant much!

I also finished quilting my "Country Bunnies" yesterday and will sew the binding on this morning.  The pattern is by "The Pattern Basket"!

Have a great week!

Kitchen Witch!

Good Monday morning!

I think that a Kitchen Witch took over my body this morning!  She made me dust, clean my quilting room, throw out a bag of junk and make some Carrot Cake Scones!

We had a fun Easter with a family get together,  My DH's sister, niece, and grand-nieces flew out from New York for the week.  We met at my brother in laws and had a great visit and, a great meal!

I have been obsessing over little zippered bags from one that I saw on Pinterest.  Don't you just love Pinterest?!  I am on it several times a day.

I also have worked on a quilt that I downloaded from All People Quilt.  It is called "A Scrappy Romance"

Golf tomorrow!  Will work on my Bunnie Quilt as time allows!  I am half finished with the blocks!

Bye until next time!

Yikes, but it has been awhile!

I went to the west side of the state this weekend to celebrate my son's 50th birthday and spend time with the family!

We met some of Todd's friends at a local Mexican Restaurant. Also present,  were my sister and her husband, my daughter in law, my granddaughter and two friends from grade school with their families!

Some of you may remember that my sister is a quilter and I met another guest, who is also a quilter (Hi Anita!)  Todd introduced Anita to my blog and bragged to her about my quilts,  The three of us got to talk about quilting and quilt shops that we had visited all over the state!  Fun, Fun!  Anita also reminded me that I hadn't posted in awhile.  I didn't realize how long it had been until I logged on this afternoon,

I am not going to try to catch you up today with all of the quilts that I made over the past couple of months, it would take toooooo long!  But, I will show you this cutie!

Friday, Friday

Good afternoon, I am in the process of making some chili and macaroni soup.  I played 13 holes in the rain this morning and soup sounded sooo gooood!

Before starting my soup, I made some apple scones to take to a recuperating friend. My granddaughter was here over Christmas, what fun!  She is two and a quarter years old; she is talking and even called me “Grammie”. She called my DH papa Wayne!

My daughter in law said that she had made Carly a book bag, but hadn’t seen any straps on!  Grammie to the rescue!

I have/had a nice stash of Kari Pearson fabric, so I dug it out and have made three bags so far!  I truly wish that Kari would design kids fabric AGAIN!!

I just have to stitch the binding on a lap quilt that I got from MSQC called “Ribbon Star”.  I used French General’s “Le Marais”!

Happy New Year to all my friends!

Merry Christmas To All My Friends!

It is Saturday morning and I just finished a small quilt for a new friend!  When I first met her, I thought that she was a Snowflake!  Sew, I made her a secret present!

She is sew funny and has a very kind soul.

I got word this week from my son.  He is coming over for Christmas and I get to see my granddaughter!  I got her  Cabbage Patch Doll and some books.  She is talking now!

I have been working at the mall for the Christmas season.  Two more weeks and I will be finished.  But, I will have earned enough to pay my greens fees for 2019.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year🎄🎄🎄🎉🎉🎉
