Friends, friends, Maryland, Virginia and Delaware

A week is not long enough to travel almost 2000 miles, be with dear friends and commune with sun, surf and spirit!

Faith, Che and I left Montreat on a Friday and headed for our first stop in western Maryland, at the trail head of the Appalachian Trail, the C and O canal and the Potomac river and my sister in spirit Diane.
We were so busy talking, I forgot to take photos of her beautiful park like home.

Saturday we went to the Leesberg VA farmers market, and a smaller market, and then to Don and Rhonda's home and dahlia farm.
Cafe au lait- my fave.

They sell cuts and personal care products made with their bee's honey and propolus, so check them out here.

Sunday we were Henlopen Acres bound, by way of Annapolis Meeting.
Their newish Meeting house is lovely and functional and after meeting we enjoyed one of the best potluck lunches I've been to in a long time!

Sharon has been a friend and confidant for longer than almost anyone else alive.
Welcome to Tidewater!

this is the view of the inter-coastal waterway from my bedroom.

Of course she has arial slings!

Love you Sharon!
Ha HA

Last stop, was Loblolly house, Taylors Island, MD.

Barbara another long time friend was there to greet us!
Hugs all around

from the bedroom

I'll let the photo's speak for themselves, and you can see a good video here..

The next day Carol arrived, who's 4th Great Grandfather used to own the land the house was build on, and she toured us around the island.

The water was surprisingly warm, no sea nettles or jelly fish. Even I took a swim in the bay.

The most exciting part of the trip was on the way home, a 55gal drum fell off of a truck, and Faith skillfully kept us from having an interstate highway accident. It did graze the car!

Wonderful trip and no matter where I roam, be it ever so humble, there's no place like home!

Here's what I've created for todays post:

We got some comments on the Christmas Blog Hop, that the creations were too complicated and required expensive equipment, so this is my response .

Quick and easy and not too glittery or girly to give to the men in our lives.

Aside from the stencil-Dreamweaver Bare Trees LJ 849 and the stamp-Quiefire Give me the splendid silent  sun, all you need as some paper and ink or paint, and you can create without limits!

I started with black 80 lb card stock, taped the stencil at the top as a hinge and applied VersaMagic cloud white chalk ink with a stencil brush, lifted off the stencil, washed the stencil and let the ink and stencil dry well.

Replacing the stencil as carefully as possible and taping again at the top, using a foam sponge dauber I colored the stencil with Distress paints -spun sugar, raspberry, broken china, forest moss, peeled paint and mowed grass, mixed with some pickett fence to keep them pastel.
While it was wet I fairy dusted the whole panel with Dreamweaver Mettalic F/X  Moonstone with a soft brush.

The quote is stamped with VersaFine Onyx Black on tracing paper and thermal embossed clear, the back colored with Distress inks with the same colors. Attach the paper with Glossy Accents to keep it transparent.  It's not as bright in real life and much more sparkly!

The mat was edged with Perfect Medium, Ranger sticky embossing powder, heated and the F/X moonstone burnished on with my finger.

Simple and quick and fun!

Please leave a comment to win prizes, and it's not to late to go back and see the full week of inspiration along with the rest of todays hop!

Comments and questions appreciated and always welcomed.

Quietfire and Dreamweaver : Awesome In Autumn, Day 2

Get ready for an amazing week of Awesome in Autumn!
This week we are partnering with the Dreamweaver Design Team and are so excited to be playing with their innovative stencils, pastes and glitters!

Follow along with us and leave your comments on each blog for an opportunity to win one of two wonderful prize packages!

Here's what I have created for todays post:

The biggest challenge was accurately capturing the metallic and glitter elements of this card.

The card began with stenciling the stems of  Dreamweaver Gingko Bough Stencil LJ839 with VersaFine Olympia green ink, and the leaves with  Dreamweaver Metallic Gold embossing paste , on a base of K and Company Designer paper.
Differing pressure on the pallet knife created texture in the paste to make the leaves life like.

There is a bit of magic watching the paste transform from a dull mustard color to a brilliant metallic gold as it dries.

I used post it notes as a mask while stamping the chickadees from the Quietfire Design Woods set. Peaking out among the leaves, the birds are colored with Distress Paint, with a touch of Dreamweaver Metallic F/X Moonstone for added glimmer.

The quote also from the Woods set, is stamped on tracing paper with VersaFine Onyx Black and thermal embossed clear. Distress ink evergreen bough and peeled paint was applied to the back and the panel was glued on with Glossy Accents to make it transparent .
The gold matte layer is 80lb Neenah Solar White card stock, edged in VersaMark, Ranger Sticky embossing powder and Dreamweaver Metallic F/X Goldfinch.
Burnish the powder with your finger for  a super luxe metallic finish.

Quietfire Design Rubber Stamps and digital files and Dreamweaver Metal Stencils are hand drawn and lettered and manufactured to the highest standards to create lifetime tools for your crafting and fine art enjoyment.

I hope this Blog Hop will encourage you to use our tools and look forward to seeing your creations.
Please post them on our Facebook pages, or leave a link in a comment.
