"Grow-Grow Fruit" redirects here. For Binz's Devil Fruit, see Mosa Mosa no Mi.

The Iku Iku no Mi is a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows the user to make inanimate objects in their care grow larger as though they were living organisms. It was eaten by Biblo, making him a Nurturing Owl (育成フクロウ, Ikusei Fukurō?, Viz: "Growth-Owl")[2]

Etymology[]

  • "Iku" is derived from ikusei (育成?), which means "rearing; nurture; cultivation" (e.g. of children, animals, plants).

Strengths and Weaknesses[]

The Iku Iku no Mi enables the user to enlarge objects to gigantic size. It is indicated that simply being in the user's "territory" will cause objects to grow;[2] the ability can take effect instantaneously, as a book Robin was holding immediately grew larger upon entering the Owl Library.[1] Otherwise the exact workings, parameters, and limitations of this ability remain unknown.

Although it is possible to revert the enlarged objects back to their original size, it is not possible to shrink objects smaller than their original size. While it does serve giants well, humans and similar sized races may struggle to use the enlarged objects as a result, as Chopper and Jewelry Bonney noted a difficulty reading an enlarged book.[2] The user is also affected by the standard Devil Fruit weaknesses.

Usage[]

Biblo makes use of this fruit in the Owl Library, of which he is the chief librarian. This ability is very useful for giants, as Biblo's presence enables all texts that were initially printed in human size to grow into sizes that the giants can utilize.[2]

Trivia[]

  • This fruit is similar to two other fruits:
    • The Deka Deka no Mi, which enables the user to make their own body larger in size, but which does not affect their surroundings.
    • The non-canon Moa Moa no Mi, which allows the user to increase the size of anything they touch. This gigantification occurs rapidly and is only temporary.
  • The Iku Iku no Mi is the only instance of a Devil Fruit's official English name being used multiple times, sharing its name with the Mosa Mosa no Mi.
