Toadofsky is a famous Toad composer who works in Melody Bay, a small area connected to Tadpole Pond. His English name is a pun on the name of famous Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, although his hair looks more like that of Johann Sebastian Bach. During the events of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, Toadofsky has "composer's block"; he is trying to create a brand new symphony, has had no inspiration to work from. Additionally, if he does not come up with a song and make some money soon, he will have to compose video game music for games starring a hedgehog.[1] As Mario travels the world, he picks up a few local melodies. If Mario returns to Tadpole Pond, he can play these melodies to Toadofsky as inspiration by leaping on the tadpoles in certain positions, the pond resembling a staff. As a reward, Toadofsky will give Mario special membership cards used to purchase special items at the Tadpole Pond Item Shop, the Juice Bar. After giving him the three melodies, Toadofsky allows Mario to compose the last quarter of the symphony himself. During the ending, Toadofsky is seen putting on a concert with Frogfucious attending it.
Toadofsky, called Toadofski, appeared in Mario and the Incredible Rescue. He gives Mario, Luigi and Toad one of the six Mushrooms in exchange for Mario composing a new song. Mario titled his new composition, "Falling Down a Waterfall".
Melodies of Toadofsky's symphony[]
"Frogfucius' suite #18" (learned from reading a poster on Frogfucius' island).
"Moleville blues" (learned from Pa'Mole in the Coal Mines).
"Monstro Town song" (learned from a Starslap in Monstro Town).
Mario himself composes the last quarter of the symphony in Tadpole Pond.
Trivia[]
The mentioned "video game starring a hedgehog" is a reference to the Sonic the Hedgehog games, with the note of it being the "ultimate indignity" referencing the rivalry between Nintendo and Sega at the time.
