Norfair is an area in the Metroid series of video games. It's found on planet Zebes, and is basically a fiery inferno. It was destroyed when Zebes was in the SNES video game Super Metroid.
Metroid series[]
In the Metroid games, Norfair is accessible using an elevator located in Brinstar, and is where Samus Aran faces her arch-enemy, Ridley. The area is mostly made up of volcanic caves, natural green rocks, and bluish-purple or green bubble bricks. Samus can also face Imago here.
Super Smash Bros. series[]
Norfair appears as a stage in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS/Wii U. There are five platforms, four of which are pass through ones (though they're all the same size). Like before, the stage has lava that rises and falls, but the lava does more than that; sometimes two massive lava walls come in from either sides, covering half the stage. The lava also sprays the stage like a fountain, and even comes in as a tidal wave that floods the stage. Fortunately, a capsule will appear on one of the five platforms one or two seconds before the big lava wave appears in the background. Whomever gets inside the capsule will ultimately be safe from danger, though everyone else will more than likely be badly burned by the lava.
