Koichi Sugiyama [Edit] [Talk]

Koichi Sugiyama was a Japanese composer, conductor, and orchestrator. He was best known for creating the music to the Dragon Quest series. Initially composing songs for pop artists in the 60's and 70s, in particular The Tigers and The Peanuts, his popularity led him the opportunity to compose for anime. In animation, his most popular works are Space Runaway Ideon and The Sea Prince and the Fire Child. After sending Enix a fan letter, the celebrity was asked to start composing music for them.

Sadly, Sugiyama passed away from septic shock on September 30, 2021 at the age of 90.
