The Great Plateau is the starting region in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The region is also the tutorial section. It's geographically separated from the rest of Hyrule due to its height.

Great Plateau Tower[]

The Great Plateau tower is the first location the player is tasked to visit by the Old Man. It's a Sheikah Tower in the northeastern area of the Great Plateau. It's initially underground until Link activates it with his Sheikah Slate. Once activated all the other Sheikah Tower's across Hyrule come above ground and gives the player a map of the Great Plateau on the Sheikah Slate.

Hopper Pond[]

A small body of water near the Forest of Spirits. Bokoblins can be found surrounding the pond guarding a treasure chest.

Mount Hylia[]

The cold area of the Great Plateau and the location of Keh Namut shrine otherwise known as the Cryonis. Several ice-themed enemies can be found in the area. Using the Warm Doublet or cold resistance foods, Link is able to climb the mountain to the shrine.

The River of the Dead[]

The frozen river where stepping inside would cause Link to freeze to death. To get across, the player can use 2 magnetic pieces to make a bridge or the Cryonis ability once the shrine is completed.

The Shrine of Resurrection[]

Where the game starts and where Link awakens from his 100 year slumber.

Temple of Time[]

Where the player earns the paraglider from the Old Man and can use the spirit orbs to collect a heart container and stamina wheel.
