The game is largely similar to the original game including retaining all the classes from the original game. The new classes to this game include the Buccaneer, Alchemist, Kenkaku, Monk, and Farmer. The player composes a team of 4 characters to explore Mystery Dungeons, randomly generated multi-floor dungeons. When the player gets a game over, the party is sent back to town, but the player loses all their items and money on hand.
