Bravely Default II is the third game in the Bravely Default series. It is a turn based role-playing game developed by Claytechworks for the Nintendo Switch. It was released worldwide on February 26, 2021. The game features new characters compared to Bravely Second and is intended to be mostly a spiritual sequel to Bravely Default, in a similar manner to the games of the Final Fantasy series, which is why it has that name despite being the third entry.

The game was announced for the Nintendo Switch at The Game Awards in December 2019. Series producer Tomoya Asano said that the reason for the game's title, Bravely Default II, was due to his belief that Bravely Second did not live up to fans' expectations as a sequel, and its critical and commercial under-performance. The Team's morale and finances improved following the release of the mobile title Bravely Default: Fairy's Effect and the Octopath Traveler, which was pretty successful. The team decided as a result to return to the series with a fresh start, hence the name Bravely Default II.

A demo of the game was announced and released during a March 26, 2020 Nintendo Direct presentation. Square Enix also announced that they would be taking fan feedback from the demo and implementing it into the final release. The game finally released worldwide on February 26, 2021.
